    Oh the horror.
    Oh the humanity.
    Our season is over.
We will never get the new stadium.
    The team is moving...

    Right.

Before we start selling all of our purple, I think some of us (myself included) need a little history lesson.
Let's play a game called "Where were we in week 8?"

Year Record going into wk 8 Final record
    2006 4-2 6-10
    2005 2-4 9-7
    2004 5-1 8-8
    2003 6-0 9-7
    2002 1-5 6-10

The fact is the first six games are not a very good indicator as to how the rest of the season will play out.
Three times in the past five years we have started out strong just to falter in the last ten games.
Once we started out badly and went on a 7-3 winning streak, just barely missing the playoffs.
Only once, in 2002, did we finish the season the same way we started it.
So it is silly to start planning out playoff dates if we are 4-2, and it is just as silly to start anticipating draft picks when we are 2-4.

This is not limited to the Vikings either.
The Cowboys were 3-3 at this time last year, and made the playoffs.
The panthers were 4-2 and missed them.
    It happens every year.
Some teams will start out hot and falter, and some teams will start off cold and rally.

I am not trying to say that I expect us to rip off a winning streak.
But I am saying that it isn't over yet.
And we are so very close to being a very good team.
There is a lot of football left to be played this year, so don't give up the faith quite yet.

    Skol.
Who was that coach that pulled us out of the muck in 2005? Let's get THAT guy!!!!
    LMAO.
    Shame on you caj. ;D

    Re: A bit of perspective

I agree it's a good post. Normally I am a very positive guy...but I just don't see anything that Childress has done (or is doing) that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. I don't have confidence that he has a "workable plan". Unless there are changes made with the play selection (less predictable and more geared to our players' strengths) and execution on the offensive side, I really don't see much to be positive about for the remaining 10 games. The way we are playing now, we won't win more than 6 games this season. I haven't seen any improvement at all with the offense over these first 6 games.

Those stats may make a better case that we will go 4-12 this year.

The Vikings have been a strong team out of the gates historically over the past few decades from what I remember, especially during the years they were in playoff contention. Then about November 1(Deer opener weekend) the generally hit the wall and lose about 4 out of the next 5 and finish limping through the end of December. 2005 was one exception where we were terrible until Johnson came in to finish 7-2 so it is possible and not without precedent, but the offense has so little sign of life that it will really take a gutcheck to pull it out. Hopefully the can as I hate losing but I am not too optimistic.

    I'd take 9-7 after a 2-4 start :P

Lets beat the iggles and then the chahgers at home, then we can reevaluate.

    Good post.

I know that in the past we have come out blazin' only to fizzle down the stretch (or after a loss to the Giants).

Maybe this is our "bizarro" year and we come our stale and end up golden...or at least things looking good for the future.
I'm not so sure about that. You're talking two different coaches, two different schemes, two different offenses.

To base how Childress will finish the season, based on Tice's record is way off base.

We only won 2 games after the first 6 under Childress last year & this year is looking exactly the same.

    What I see there is........

After Childress' first 22 games as head coach, he's 8-14.

After Tice's first 22 games as head coach, he was 12-10.

    LOL.
    Really?
Because I would argue that neither one did yet.

    Re: A bit of perspective

That´s the kind of topics I really like,we are
    only about
2/5 of the season for us and nothing lose or nothing win at the moment.
Like some member said we have 2 in a row at home and after that all the perspective can change, besides we are and the NFC
    where teams are very equalated.
Still all depend on us rigth now and that´s would have to be the bottom line for us.
