Bob Sansevere, of the St. Paul Pioneer Press, reports Minnesota Vikings C Matt Birk (hernias) underwent surgery to repair a sports hernia on his right side and a "full-blown" hernia on his left side during this offseason. Birk blames the recurrent problem on rushing back to action too early after initially suffering the injuries during training camp and then in mid-season last year. While Birk participated in his first workout Monday, April 18, since his latest surgery, he doesn't plan to take part in drills during the Vikings' post-draft minicamp and said he will be patient during his recovery.
Maybe we add a center to our draft list?

Re: Birk's Future Uncertain
I think trading down from #18 and getting Baas would be a good idea. See if anyone would give up a low first or a high second, paired with an additional second or high third for it. 18 seems to high to take Baas but he probabaly won't be there at our second round pick.

Rob Hunt in the 3rd. He can also play both. Fast and strong, did very well in the Combine. He is from ND and I wouldn't be surprised if the Vikes have an eye on him already.
I hope Birk gets better for the season ahead. As far as I am concerned he doesn't have to practice until a week before the season starts.

Re: Birk's Future Uncertain
We need a future replacement and the Vikings always get an unknown guy to come in and play center and he turns into an all-pro.
