Re: Birk upset by leak of details from Monday meeting

I read in my sports illustrated that Tice gave the team hell in a meeting and he broke a white board. Was pissed and yelling at people telling them to play with some intensity............

There was more to the article but I left it at home.

Basically in summary it had a few guys saying Tice is doing a good job and he is not a soft cushy coach. He just isn't all up in your face in the media. He handles his buisiness like a professional.

    I like that.

You know screw Matt Birk. The more I think about it.

He sat there and knew he need this surgery and could have done it in the off season. He waits to find out about his contract situation then decides I don't like what the Vikes are doing let me get the operation now. Screw him.

Why is he even hanging around the team. As everyone knows i'm all about FREE-MARKETS get what people will pay you. Matt Birk made a choice to sitout and so I feel like he should sitout. Stay away from the team Matt Birk. What possible could he be doing coaching?

    Hey Vikes,
Put down the crack pipe and step away from the computer. What are you talking about? Do you really believe what you are saying about Birk and the whole situation. He's only looking out for himself and his career. You can't possibly tell me that you wouldn't have done the same. If the team really thought that they needed him, they should've promised him the $$. I really don't think they had any idea that the O-line was going to fall apart like it did. If Tice could see into the future, I'm pretty sure he would've paid Birk and brought back Dixon. RELAX!!!!! I think all this loosing is making eveyone LOCO.

Again the guy is a team captain. When you get hurt it isn't a "go on vacation Birk" kind of thing. He is there doing what he has to do. He's still very much a part of the team and as a captain of the team I am sure he is still very vocal.

Birk your hurt sitdown shutup your not a part of the team, well neither are we, we are fans we shouldn't be saying shit either then I guess.

Only he has a lot more investes in the situation then we do.

I agree with some of what you are saying. What I am taking from your comment is this. Even though he is the Captain, it looks bad when it is put like he had a choice to play and get paid or having the surgery and sitting out. How can you believe the guy is in it for the team? If you are a player and he speaks, how can you take him seriously when it seems like it is about the Benjamins.

I think there is something more to it though than just Money(contract) and Playing this season, I think the media had a lot to do with warping the perception like that. Like it was an either or decision. Ultimately, if he has enough time to heal, he will be worth paying next year?????

    You really think this!

He had 4 surgeries in the off-season.

And it was the Viking team Physician and a specialist that missed the injury. After he was still having problems during training camp that they found the other torn tendon, and gave him the choice of having the 5th surgery in less than 8 months!

If you like Birk or not I can care less, but your post is just plain wrong.
What we've got here is failure to communicate.

Dude will definatly be worth paying next season. He is not that old, is a pro bowler, and his injury shouldn't (I re-state shouldn't) effect the rest of his career. And really folks, who else would we replace him with next year?

i personally think Birk is probaly our best leader on offense, he isn't all soft spoken. i personally thought it was awesome last year when he confronted Moss about leaving the field early.
it does suck that our injuried center had to say something about it instead of any of our other leaders.

    Thanks Josdin
