    Big plans for James

    From the Star Tribune;

    Excerpt from "Vikings offense begins its tweaking"

    http://www.startribune.com/stories/510/5705407.html

    Big plans for James

    Coach Mike Tice said Wednesday night on his KFAN Radio show that rookie defensive end Erasmus James will play a lot Sunday, an indication the Vikings plan to use much more of the 4-3 defense. The team had success with a 3-4 base defense for two games but gave up 38 points last Sunday.

    Other indications a change might be coming is the team's belief that Kevin Williams is much more comfortable playing inside than on the end, and that defensive end Spencer Johnson (knee) is confident he will be able to return after missing three games.

    Etc.

    • WR Marcus Robinson jammed his knee during practice and sat out the rest of the session. The injury is not believed to be serious, but Robinson is listed as questionable on the injury report and will be re-evaluated today. RB Moe Williams, bothered by knee and back problems, did not practice and is doubtful. G Toniu Fonoti (hand, doubtful), LB Napoleon Harris (knee, probable) and CB Fred Smoot (shoulder, probable) all practiced. It was Fonoti's first football activity since the Vikings obtained him last month.

    • Tice said the team will have some quarterbacks in Friday for workouts and that a third quarterback might be added next week. Johnson and Shaun Hill are the only two on the roster.

    • Culpepper was at Winter Park on Wednesday morning but did not speak to the media.

    • About 80 former players are expected to be at the Metrodome on Sunday as former coach Jerry Burns is inducted into the Vikings' Ring of Honor at halftime. Hall of Fame quarterback Fran Tarkenton can't attend but is taping a video message that will be played during the ceremony.

    "Big Plans for James"

    It is about time, I swear I have been watching when James gets in the game and he seems to make things happen. They may not always show up on the stat sheet, but he gets pressure on QBs quite often, he put the hit on Vic that knocked him out of the game, last game he caused a fumble on a QB hit in his limited time in there that went largely unnoticed because Smoots holding nulified the play, and the TV coverage never went back and even showed the good play by Erasmus again, because they were too busy showing Smoots holding between plays.

    So I say turn him loose. I dont know if his run stopping isnt up to snuff or why they have been limiting his time. He seems like the man to me.

    And I am not just saying that because I am going to be selling an Erasmus James authentic jersey on ebay soon (Which I will be by the way so watch the classified section in the next week or two) I have been excited about him since well before the draft, and when we took him I was pumped. That is why I am sporting his authentic jersey as my new #1 favorite. I was wearing Culpepper (white) for the road games, but think I may now just have to use Erasmus for all games. It seemed to be lucky for the Green Bay game. And you can see what wearing the White Pep jersey at the Carolina game last week did for him/us.

    First of all, I will be happy to see 'Rasmus in there along with Williams back @ DT. Secondly I'm glad Fonoti is practicing! I really hope this guy pans out for us and turns into a solid gaurd, heaven knows with Johnson back there we need it.

    I really have though we have too much talent up front to keep running that 3-4 out there. Even with Udeze out, Johnstone, Johnson, James, P. Williams, Scott and K. Williams pose a very formidable frount four however you decide to mix them.
    Hopefully Fonoti can get in the mix soon. And hopefully Johnson playing for an injured leader can spark something. I really hope to see our first totallly dominating performance this weekend against the Lions. Lets hope we can springboard with this one ... if not, things will continue to change every week from 4-3 to 3-4 to whatever and consistency will be missing for the rest of the season.

    i think holding out really hurt erasmus, he proabably could have started for us week one over scott even though darrion has played preety good so far, but i think erasmus is going to be a really good player he just has alot to learn and playing some more will help that out a lot
