    Bevell and Murphy are gone....

    http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/01/09/darrell-bevell-brian-murphy-on-their-way-out-in-minnesota/
Although new Vikings coach Leslie Frazier has yet to part ways with offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell or special-teams coordinator Brian Murphy, itís just a matter of time.

Frazier has informed both men that they are free to look for other jobs.
That is a professional way to handle it and it helps them get a head start on finding a new job somewhere as well as a fresh start out of Childress's shadow.A few years being distanced from him and they can start to think about advancing their careers.

Bevellís looming departure means that the Vikings will be ditching the West Coast offense. It also means that the chances of yet another Brett Favre return have plummeted to less than zero percent.
Not sure what to think about this. On some levels I understand that the WCO can be a very good offense if it is done right but OTOH I would be excited to see more straight up power running and a simpler scheme for the new QB's to learn.

Does this mean that they came to terms with McDaniels?

Leslie is definitely selling me hope. Bevell out the door is music to my ears.

Doesn't seem likely since all signs point to Mr. Pagac keeping the gig.

But the official letting go of Bevell after all the other releases, shows that for years, Frazier h been frustrated with the ineptitude of the offense as his defense has tried to pick up the slack.

This seems a bit overdramatic, it's not like bevell is the lost goti and trying to go at it alone. People should be judged on their own merits, not what other people do.

The problem you're missing is that Bevell wasn't brought in to install HIS system or to run with HIS ideas, he was brought in as an "empty shirt" coordinator to do what Chiller wanted, how Chiller wanted, when Chiller wanted.

Despite handing off play calling 3 years ago, this was - and IS - Chiller's offense. No one knows what kind of Offensive Coordinator Darrel Bevell will make because he's never REALLY been one.

Chiller knew that Bevell wouldn't give him any grief, so he got the job.

Now that Chiller's "KAO" is being dismantled, Bevell needs to start over and find an identity that distances him from the failed KAO. This will not likely include jumping to a new OC job...he will likely have to go back to being a position coach and work his way back up. Maybe he'll be the next great Offensive mind...maybe not. But the best thing he can do is put some distance between himself and the KAO.

Not sure how much chilly farted around with the d, but I wouldn't say fraizer has exactly ran a to bitch unit. For years we have been rated very highky, yet consistently have been rather average. imo, we had 2 really good years. First with tomlin when we almost set an all time record for rush d, next was the year after. Other than that its been in decline. Ive been saying before how overrated our d is. And I still believe that. Even after this abysmal season we STILL get high praise. Wer can't contain the run, and wr make shaun hill l.ook like a pro bowler.

Time to see who was reallt at fault there now wer have no meddling chiller

I personally like all the house cleaning going on. If it's broke fix it. The other thing I like about this is it takes away the excuses/inroads to finger pointing.
I guess what I'm saying is if it don't work there is only Frazier to blame period. This is his system/experiment and will have to own it. Chilli sort of hid behind Bevell and if the offense kicked ass, well self explanatory, and if it fizzled well poor Bevell. I think Bevell was just a glorified puppet of Chilli and was just a token clipboard holder. Chilli was no genius in any facet of offense/qb development.
At least Frazier has the cajones to clean house and put the weight of the team on his shoulders and go with it. Total transparency.
I bet you could use a cool one huh Clark...Now you're talkin Eddie...
