I go to Vegas once a year, and every year I bet on teams to win the Superbowl. I try to bet on the Vikings along with others. This year I didn't because they were one of the favorites. I look at it as a good thing because I will root for the Vikes anyways. So now, I have more teams to root for in case the Vikings happen to lose. Don't get me wrong, I would prefer the Vikings to win over winning some money, but the best odds I saw in Vegas this year was 15:1. I'm going in few weeks so I'll probably be looking at their odds again.
Yes, but come on isn't that betting against your team....I mean I've gone your route with future bets I have 7 including the Vikings this year.

if theres a game i dont think the vikings will win, i simply wont bet on it. now, i am betting on both of the vikes/packer games this year, for the vikes both times. i just couldnt see myself betting against the vikings. it just doesent seem right.

Very Big Fan.......Just business first.....As big as you maybe not but I am from Michigan...Turned to the Vikings after Barry Sanders left, but on the other hand don't understand what too big of a fan means. You have to admit bad, very bad analogy. Also relax people are different .

I don't think I could ever bet against the Vikings ... and to be judgemental ... noone who does bet against them is as big of a fan as I am, period.
Cool opinion, but in this country and in this lifetime, their is so much disappointment daily(if you watch the news) and to have a little retribution on your feelings that particular day the Vikings played in Jan. of 99......After all those Super Bowl Losses.....I understand the guy, after all it wasn't me who did it .....(Yes Touchdown Miami).....Anyways good luck playing it safe......
Now you are confusing being a true fan with playing it safe ... without getting into specefics because it really is noone's business ... I make quite a bit of money on a yearly basis betting on NFL, NBA and college basketball as well as other forms of gambling ... but even though I am very good in this arena and right far more often than wrong ... I still know how to be a fan ... which once again is the point ... betting against the Vikings means you like them ... and like is fine ... but passion is what sports are all about ... and noone betting against a team has any passion for that team, period.

When the Vikes have a big game coming up I will ALWAYS place a substantial bet AGAINST them. Here's my rationale:

If the Vikes win: I'm happy because I'm a Vikes fan.
If the Vikes lose: I'm not as upset because I get a big payout.

I like to think of it as my way of screwing fate for all the crap it has dealt to me because there's no way fate can win... I'm reasonably satisfied whether the Vikes win or lose.

    Comments anyone?
That is fine, but that just means you are more of a gambler than a football fan ... which is fine ...
But being reasonablly satisfied by any result is the way people who are afraid to lose live.

No I wouldnt have, but I doubt you made this post so that a bunch of people would say yes or no to you ...
And you also made the post saying he was a big Vikings fan, so I was just correcting you in the fact that he may like the Vikes a little, but he is not a big fan ... anytime you have to start a post by defending why a guy is a fan, you already know he is not a fan.

Just because you beat against your team doesnt mean your not a "BIG" fan. I said earlier I would of put money on Texas in the rose bowl because I know my team and I know they cant stop any athletic QB.

So you're not as a big of a fan as someone who has the means to make that bet and doesnt based on the fact that he has nothing to gain other than his team winning, which means he wants them to win more, simple math

I would bet against the Vikes or Gophers or Any MN team if I bet on games.. If I had a feeling we would lose I wouldnt bet for us.. Or If the Gophers played someone like USC I wouldnt bet for the Gophs.. Doesnt make me less of a fan.. Just smart with my cash!
