    Better Special Teams?

I haven't seen much chat on the Special Teams other than the kicking. Lets not forget that we gave up poor field position on too many occasions last year. Let's face it we had lesser talent on the field than our opponent and this continually put pressure on an already poor defense.

After free agency :sunny: this offseason the special teams may have benifited the most. Guys like E.J. Henderson and Brian Russell will most likely play Special teams and don't be suprised if you see a guy like Russell going to the Pro Bowl as a Special Teamer.

Bottom line is that we need better Football Players on our Special teams.

    What say you Viking fans.

Look Bud Grant called the KICK TEAMS. He said "If there is anything special about them they would be on a regular team".
I always liked that and I since that day I always call them KICH TEAMS in honor of Bud!!

I didn't think our special teams was that bad. The coverage needed work but we got some really good field position on kick and punt return last year. Often, the offense failed to get points off of the great field position but we HAD IT. Other than a good kicker, I think there will be improvement this year because a lot of our defensive starters from this year will be on Special teams! It's a win, win situation!

our special teams defense was ranked around the middle of the league. sure we let a couple of long returns but every team does, though we should think about getting a kick returner.

I don't know if anyone else noticed but rookie rb out of san diego state Larry Ned was the only thing that kept our special teams from being a disaster. He was the wedge-buster and he did a great job, he made plays whenever he got an oppurtunity.

You can have great players on special teams but if they dont know what the he!! there doing it doesnt matter. Almost every game i'd see one of our players take themselves out the play and WHAM! 50 yard return. That my fellow Vikes fans is coaching.

You could have rookie sensation Kellen Winslow Jr. break his leg in the 2nd game of the year on Special Teams.

Guess it was not so special for him!
