Bernard Berrian - Premium Performer

Premium Performer

2/3/2009

By Mike Wobschall, vikings.com

After ranking 28th in passing yards and 29th in passing touchdowns during the 2007 season, and with teams consistently jamming the line of scrimmage to stop Adrian Peterson, the Vikings needed a premium performer to jumpstart their passing attack heading into the 2008 season......

Berrian defenantly brings the homerun threat we have needed the last couple years, and now it's time for Rice, Allison, to step up, or we should bring in somebody from FA, or a trade. Whatever we do I see things getting better at our flanker position, and next season should be even better.

Berrian was a definite upgrade this last season but the WR corps still needs improving. I was disappointed that Rice didn't do more than he did, though allowances have to be made for the passing game. However I'm looking for us to get a WR via FA or if not as one of our earlier draft choices.

Thats a nice a article and makes a great point.
The Vikes a QB and another vertical threat away from being a real contender.

In a way, Berrian reminds of AD a little.
You won't see him consistently picking up decent yardage throughout the game, or consistently making catches, but at somepoint during the game, he'll make some big plays.

Completely agree... we are definitely a homerun team with a stout defense.

I don't mind that, but some teams stop it pretty easily and we just stall.
Disclaimer: I'm an idiot.

They still need a RT, an upgrade at center, and another TE if Jimmy K leaves.

Yes, but this season the majority of his yardage came off long runs.
He probably averaged 2.5 yards per carry if you took away his runs over 20 yards.
IMHO I liked the way he ran in his first season better, he hit the hole hard every time, whereas this year his seemed to dance around at the line looking for the big run too often.

I m like a Ja Rule poster, cause I'm off the wall.

Peterson is no where near the home run type guy Berrian is. We need a big possession WR.
