    Re: Bennett won't miss opener

It seems MB is where Tice's loyalty is, he's a players coach and doesn't want the little guys feelings hurt, he might make him get hurt off the field and won't be able to play even longer.

i am all for MeMo starting in preseason and against Tampa...first of all its the beginning of the season, Bennett is down, and everyone is kind of anxious to see how Moore is gonna perform. however, if Moore performs well, i don't agree with him replacing Bennett. the worst thing that could happen out of this whole situation is that we will have 2 great RBs...now how bad is that? atleast let Bennett play..if he gets hurt then we have Moore.

ps. i don't know football rules, but as a woman, my logic is saying, why not let them both play in the same game? ie bennett plays first half, moore plays second, or vice versa. ???
That's pretty much how Tice has handled the running game for the last few years. Running back by committe. I'm not a fan of it really, but a few teams do it. You are right, I am pretty sure we will see the same thing this year with rotations made in game.
That's all fine and dandy except for the fact that Tice said there would be ONE back. He can't and shouldn't go back on his words. It puts doubt in the minds of the players, assistant coaches, and fans. He is the coach, so what he says goes, but he must be consistent with what he says and what actually happens. Tice is turning into a flip-flopper, and I don't like that at all. Moreover, he shouldn't be using Bennett's injury as an excuse to name Moore the permanent starter. If Moore is better, say it. It's that simple. If he refuses to say it simply because he doesn't want to admit he was wrong, that is pathetic. It means his ego is so big that he can't tell the truth. Egos ruin football teams.

I have no problem with Moore being the starter this year. I prefer Bennett, but if Moore starts I won't sit here and whine all season; I'll root him on. What I do have a problem with is how Tice is handling the situation. If we do RBBC again I say fire him. As devout fan I deserve to know who my starting RB is. I also deserve to be told the truth.

I agree, but I have no faith in him. I am sure we will see RBBC. I hope I am wrong.

    Re: Bennett won't miss opener

this injury is the perfect excuse to appease the other coaches who are in favor of moore . tice isn't naming the starter , that decision will probably come after the tampa game . bennett has had 2 games with the first team offence , 8 attempts 14 yards 1.8 y/carry and 4 attempts 5 yards 1.3 y/carry .

now moore will get 2 games with the first team offence . i wouldn't expect moore to have huge games against these defences but if his yards per carry remains around 4 then i think tice will have a hard time not naming moore the starter.

Vikings | M. Bennett Reaffirmed as Regular Season Starter
    Thu, 25 Aug 2005 12:43:33 -0700

St. Paul Pioneer Press' Sean Jensen reports Minnesota Vikings RB Michael Bennett (neck) will remain the starting running back of the Minnesota Vikings according to HC Mike Tice. Some confusion arose after Tice named Mewelde Moore the starter for the Vikings' exhibition game Friday, Aug. 26 due to Bennett's injury. "We are absolutely on the same page," Tice said. "Mike Bennett is a proven player and he is our starter, and the injury won't stop him from being the starter. I'm not playing any mind games or anything. But I have to have another plan if he can't play." Bennett said he was satisfied after a meeting with Tice and insists he will be ready for the regular season opener. "I don't know what the whole big hoopla was about," Bennett said. "My neck is a whole lot better."

    "Proven player"? Ugh.

Maybe he'd prove something if he weren't hurt ALL THE TIME!

Bennett hasn't proven sh*t in three years, other than he is ineffective when in the game.

How dare you question Lord Tice!

Bennett has proven plenty in his 4 years as a pro-

    1. Hes shown an excellent abillity to sustain injurys
    2. Breakaway speed as long as he is able to run striaght down the field
    3. He's proven he can be tackled easily
    4. He's proven he can run into his o-line and fall down
    5. He's proven he can't make deffenders miss

I ask you what has Moore done that wasn't against 2nd and 3rd string players that makes you think you know better than the head coach who's at practice everyday and knows his team in and out?
