    Re: Bennett=Totally healthy, fast!!!

Actually two years, but point conceded, ejmat...

Here's an interesting write-up about his draft (written in 2001):

    http://www.footballsfuture.com/2001/profile/michael_bennett.html

It's interesting...not too positive either...makes me a little more frightened than I was previously...maybe I don't like MB as our starter anymore. Though I don't remember him having a problem with fumbling...also, he seems to be able to catch the ball just fine...maybe this dude didn't know what he was talking about...anyone have an opinion on how valid this pre-view of MB turned out to be?

Yea, he's fast, that's for sure. I just hope there's not a strong gust of wind in our games or he'll go down quick, fast, and in a hurry.
People use to say the same thing about Robert Smith. You remember him don't you?

    Smith could take a hit.

He is fast but can he have a high YAC (yards after contact avg) and can he get past the first tackle to break longer runs? That is yet to be seen. Anyone can run fast in a straight line but he must be able to break tackles and change direction better. No doubt he has the speed to be an elite RB in this league.
    I can't

The thing is, Robert Smith would shrug that first tackler, and THEN go.

well seems like we're going with bennett . and to tell the truth i hope he proves me and all the rest or the ney sayers wrong .

BUT if bennett goes down or has a lack luster year , i will be highly upset that we didn't go after alexander . this also may be a break for the up and coming young backs we have.

but that being said if bennetts our man then i hope he does prove me wrong .

I can only assume you are a new fan and haven't seen michael bennett healthy yet. Otherwise you would remember the franchise records he set his pro bowl year. He had several games in a row where he had very long runs.

Sure anyone can run relativly fast in a straight line, but not that fast.

Also, his injuries have been blown WAY our of proportion. If my memory serves me correctly, the dude has been injured twice. Granted they kept him out of a large number of games, but its not that bad. Look at robert smith. Running backs get beat up alot.
