Just saw this tweeted.
Pioneer Press @VikingsNow: Wow, Leslie Frazier says Asher Allen has retired. Allen didn't tie decision to health. Frazier said he was very surprised.

What? Why on earth would he retire at his age if it wasn't a health issue? Weird.Zeus wrote:
When are you going to realize that picking out the 20 bad throws this year and ignoring the 300 good ones does not make your point?

Some people just don't have the passion for the game, probably why he was never any good.
Look at Dwight Jones of the Texans, he's a rookie and already informed the club he no longer wants to play football.Disclaimer: I'm an idiot.

It is not just about passion of the game. Though you have a fair point there.
Allen had a concussion in 2010 and had another one late last year. At some point, with all the talk about it, it makes you think. These guys see plenty of "old school" players around and probably notice that many of them are not able to speak well and are truly beat up, despite being under 60 years old.
That said ... I am glad that if he didn't want to play, he didn't force himself to play.

He was probably going to be cut anyways.
Chris Cook will be back, Antoine Winfield supposedly looks great, Josh Robinson has big potential, Zack Bowman and Chris Carr will probably round-out our CBs this year... and Asher saw the writing on the wall.Disclaimer: I'm an idiot.

Hey, Asher, I'm 50, can I retire? What's the secret? WTF?
Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent
As a matter of fact, I do know

He might be a creep, but Chris Cook looked GREAT in his limited time playing last year. Looking forward to seeing him choke offenses again.Disclaimer: I'm an idiot.
