Article on officiating in the Vikings/ Packers game
I didn't see the game against the Packers, but I heard the officiating was awful- especially for us. This article was front page today on USAToday. It's about the crew who did the game. Read between the lines. The head official admits he had a bad day...

Re: Article on officiating in the Vikings/ Packers game
I wonder if that was the jump offsides by two GB DL in the final drive?"You notice how sometimes you're in the zone? Last week, the zone wasn't even in my ZIP code," says Hochuli, who was upset about missing a false-start infraction that was clear on video. He also thought he'd been unsure about other calls he had  or hadn't  made.Zeus wrote:
When are you going to realize that picking out the 20 bad throws this year and ignoring the 300 good ones does not make your point?

This article pisses me off.
It's them pretty much admitting they were wrong through a "Puff Piece" article. Sickening. They should be fined for missing calls like that.
You'd think it was their job or something.Disclaimer: I'm an idiot.

Plus, only the crews with the highest grades get to work the post season. But all of that is handled in house, and not publicized by the NFL.
The head coaches are sent out DVDs containing good and bad calls by the refs, but are required to keep them confidential.
I can understand the policy a little... If the NFL publicly acknowledged bad calls, each bad call would further weaken the already poor viewing of the NFL officials by the general fan.
Pretty soon, every loss would be attributed to the refs, and the sport itself would suffer.
That being said, I do wish they would do a better job of talking about the good as well as the bad in NFLN's Official Review, as well as make the overall grades of officiating crews public (but not fine grained enough to pick apart individual plays).Zeus wrote:

Re: Article on officiating in the Vikings/ Packers game
I wish they would have given more details into what calls he thinks he messed up. The offsides and holding is nothing compared to the defensive touchdown that would have tied the game.
It does make me feel a little better that he is going on record and admitted that it was a lousy game, although people that didn't watch the game might think that he is just being hard on himself.
I was pretty intoxicated and sitting in the 17th row of the upperdeck in the back of the endzone and I could have called a better game than him.

Brett already has a man!!I'd much rather see the Packers miss the playoffs because of their talent then because of their injuries.

Wow, I had almost forgotten how bad the officiating was that game.
Thanks for reminding me.
