Apt punishment for attempted injury to AP?

So what would be an appropriate punishment for the blatant attempt by the Colt's D.lineman R.Mathis who attempted to injure Adrian Peterson? AP was engaged by another player from the front and the Mathis, who was not being blocked made no attempt at a clean tackle. Instead Mathis threw his shoulder directly at AP's knee from behind.

Probably nothing will happen to him.
They are just going to say he wasn't hurt so no harm done.

I remember seeing that tacke and thinking "that was a blatant attempt to take him out."
How does that not get noticed?
You are all right, though, nothing will happen.
Its better to lose the first game than the last one.

Yeah the announcers even mentioned the tackle briefly, but then just moved on. It was clearly a dirty play though.

I think it would have gotten more attention had he come from the front, it was a cheap shot none the less , but knees bend that way , and it won't be the worst hit that AD takes this year , if we don't get our passing game going , AD will be hurt by week 9

There are a lot of dirty plays in the NFL.
This was just one of hundreds that probably go on every week.
    Get over it.
There was no flag, and no one got hurt, case closed.
