Actually in some ways it helps. With a FB blocking in front of him, as long as he can beat 1 guy at the LOS having 8 in the box leaves only 3 to defend the rest of the field. He stiff arms one and runs past the other 2.
Teams stack the box when they don't respect the pass.
Chris Johnson 2009-QB Vince Young- 23rd in pass yards
Jamall Lewis 2003-QB Kyle Boller, Anthony Wright, 32nd in pass yards
Terrell Davis 1998-QB John Elway, 7th in pass yards
Barry Sanders 1997-QB Scott Mitchell, 12th in pass yards
Eric Dickerson 1984-?-27th in pass yards(of 28 teams)
Oj Simpson 1973- 26th of 26.
The only one with a good QB was Terrell Davis, and Elway was always a threat to scramble which likely caused defenses to stack the box anyway.
Look at Petersons ypc compared to our passing game.
07-5.6ypc-28th passing yards
08-4.8ypc-25th passing yards
09-4.4ypc-8th passing yards
10-4.6ypc-26th passing yards
11-4.7ypc-28th passing yards
12-6.3ypc-32nd passing yards
His 1812yards is already a personal best for Peterson and ranks him 19th in league history even if he doesn't get another yard. It's going to be fun watching him move up the list with every carry.

D Sharp on NFLN was emphatic about AP breaking the record.
It is the only thing that I liked to hear from him all year.
The one thing we got going for us is that the Packers and the Texans may not want to get beat to crap by AP.
Lower the BOOM and Let's rock n roll AP.
The Vikings defense will have to help AP this weekend. The Texams are a running team that could limit the number of carries AP gets if the Vikings defense can't stop the run, or get off the field on third down. Especially if the Texans get a big lead.
Vikings need to get the lead early and stop the run on defense for AP to get enough carries.
