I'm ok with it, Ponder needed to be sent a message, but maybe he was injured. I believe his last pass was that INT where he got laid out.

"Clearly?" This barely even merits a response. With EXTREMELY rare exceptions, no one is "clearly" anything at this point in their careers.
The question is whether or not you think Webb has potential to be a full-time starting quarterback in the NFL who can lead this team to victory not only this year, but in years to come. If he does, by all means play him and trade Ponder for picks. If you don't (and Ponder's health isn't seriously in jeopardy), you don't waste your time with him because all you're doing is taking away time for Ponder to develop. We invested a first-round pick in him. You pull him in this game, yes, but you don't pull him permanently for looking like a rookie quarterback on a shitty team (which, by the way, is exactly what he is).
Webb (based on the <1 half of a game we've seen him in this year) seems to play to our strengths right now - a Tebow-type who runs the ball but doesn't really throw all that well. But at this point of the season, winning now isn't really all that important.Last edited by BBQ Platypus; 12-11-2011 at 03:54 PM.

Ponder is making way too many bad decisions. I am still in favor of playing him at this point only based on the fact that when he does screw up he shows that he can come right back and make a scoring drive.
That being said, how can he keep making some of the same decisions.

Webb is exciting, but he's the worst passer I've ever seen. Ponder should keep starting but we really need to find a way to work Webb into the offense more.

Detroit was completely unprepared for Webb. Notice how they adjusted and started spying him? Webb as a backup is great. Webb as a starter is no where near good enough as a passer. Several of his passes were fortunate not to be picked off.

He does seem to be repeating the same mistakes, not sure how much the missed time in practice this week also weighs into his problems today. I do like Webb, seems to be similar to Tebow with a better throwing motion and without JC references......but some how I have a feeling no matter which direction the coaching staff choses they'll end up screwing things up
