Anyone notice similarities between us and the Raiders?
I am not even sure if this is the right area to post this.
If it is not, please forgive me and blame it on my newbie status...
That being said, I was just noticing an odd thing while I was looking over the stats.
A few folks here have said how weird it is that we have the #5 overall defense with #1 rush and almost last passing.
Well, flip it and the same goes for the Raiders.
They have the overall #3 defense, with the best pass defense but near the bottom in rush defense.
All I can say is that it has been a twisted year in the NFL and it just goes to show that a team's D isn't everything, especially when you can't get it in the end zone.
Thankfully our team appears to be more stable than the Raiders (not sure what that says about us) and hopefully next season our O will catch up with our D.
Won't that be a sight to see?

Welcome ppg, yeah, I was looking at that same stat.
I get nervous when Grandpa Al's team is mentioned in the same breath as the Vikings.
I agree though, the stat-heads are feverishly crunching numbers trying to figure out why their models don't work.
Every week there are more bizarre things that happen.
It will be refreshing when the O can play a game when they consistently only need a few points to win....and don't do it.Get your facts first, and then you can distort them as much as you please. Mark Twain

I dont think our pass defense is that bad.I dont know why our pass D is so bad. ???
We have great players in our backfield.
Our Run Defense is so dominate that it is forcing our opponants to throw almost every down.
Yards are being racked up....however, if you look at the stats through week 12 we are ranked 9th in the entire league is points against.
We are giving up yards in the middle of the field...but clamping down in the redzone.
That doesnt mean we cannot improve....but it is not as bad as it would appear at first glance.
The defense is not losing games like they did in years past.
The offense is not scoring touchdowns and this team is one of the most penalized teams in the NFL!
The penalties KILL all momentum.
Penalties on special teams has cost this team at least one win.
Not just a scoring chance...but A WIN!I'd much rather see the Packers miss the playoffs because of their talent then because of their injuries.

The reason that the Raiders are bad and the reason we are not doing well are very different.
In a word

Re: Anyone notice similarities between us and the Raiders?
Our pass D would probably play tighter if they weren't so afraid of getting burned...since they all know that the Offense can't get the points back...so they play loose so they can't get burned deep!
BANNED OR DEAD...I'LL TAKE EITHER ONE
