Hey does anyone know if Gilbert from So Cal Vikings Fan Club posts on here?
We haven't seen him since the Viking Dinner thing 17 years ago!
I wonder if he is headed up there.

Another question, you referred to Candle as a dump.
Is the area surrounding it safe to walk around?
Like if we walked to the game.
I'm looking at all options.
I referred to Candlestick Park (Monster Park) as a dump because it is old and decrepit!
The stadium is falling apart.
Most likely, the escalators will be broken (like always) The Stadium sits all by itself, out on a point that extends into the San Francisco Bay.
There is nothing around the stadium to walk to or from.
OK, nix the idea of walking then.

There are nice hotels between the SFO Airport and Candlestick…but they are not walking distance.
You can take the shuttle buses in from the hotels though.

Where are you flying into?
SFO?
San Jose?
Oakland?
BART is a pretty good way to get to the stadium…..then just find the Viking fans at lot V and hang out until kickoff!
Oakland, Southwest doesn't fly to SFO from ONT (which I didn't know until yesterday).
Then we'll get a rental car and probably stay somewhere near Monster, narrowing that down.

Do they have potties in the parking lot?
I'm a girl and don't do trees.
LOL
They have lots of porto-potties....so no worry about the trees....

You can also go to the open "stadium area" where they have TV's with all the games going, 49er cheerleaders, their mascot, etc etc....
I am 90% sure that they have access to real bathrooms also.
I'd much rather see the Packers miss the playoffs because of their talent then because of their injuries.

This is S.F.....you can hug the trees...you can pee (It's natural) on the trees all you want. Just DO NOT try to cut one down.....

There's a good chance it could rain, right?
Any tips on what to wear if this occurs?
I mean obviously a jacket and layers, hat, but any other tips?
I'm a So Cali girl, we don't know what to do when it rains.

And Windy often in Bay and or Foggy very damp at times as well. Ponchos work well....Insulate in layers so if it turns out to be warmer you can adapt. Gloves can be helpful...at least bring some.

Parking sucks.
It is 25 bucks to park in the dirt lots around "Candledump park".
There is a large group of Viking fans that come from the Bay area, Sacramento, and SoCal that tailgate in section V.

If you are going to park in Section V, you will need to purchase a parking pass for the paved lot.
You can get these off of ebay, craigslist, or the 49ers ticket resell site....
the parking passes can be had for about $40.
If you want to park in Section V, you need to be waiting at the gates at 9am.
(They open the gates 4 hours before kickoff).
By 9:30/10am...you will be parking in the dirt, regardless of the pass you have.....the paved lot fills up fast.

The fans are not too hostile.....
you might get a few drunkards talking smack....but nothing like across the bay where you might get beaten up!

You do get pretty good TV reception from the parking lot if you bring a TV for the early games.....
other then that....have a blast and SKOL!

Let me know if there is anything else I can answer for you.
Frost, I hope you're not sorry for saying "let me know if there is anything else I can answer for you."

I just got my parking pass purchased, now how would you suggest to get into the park to get to V lot or is there only one way in?
I'm going to study the parking map on the SF site as well, but if you have any tricks or tips.
If it's anything like parking at the CA Speedway on race day, it's always nice to know those secret (or not so secret) roads.

There is only one way because they will have people directing traffic for parking. These guys will show you where to go...Lot V is easy to reach after going through main parking entrance. No Worries...

Hope to see you there...

And I really hope you and your Son have a great time!

Cheers!

Waving

Is anyone going to the game this Sunday?
We don't have tix yet but working on it.
I was doing all the homework.
Anyone know where the good places to stay are, how the tailgating is in SF, etc. etc.

???
As far as tailgating, like last season members of the Southern California Viking Club will be in parking lot section V...

Last season there were our members there as well as fans from the Arizona , El Paso Texas, and Northern California Viking club there.. good times !!!

For hotels, there's plenty by Fisherman's Wharf...
I ll be dead and cold before I m green and gold

Thanks to PPE for sig

Oh we'll be there for sure, we'll do our best.
And just for the record, Brian is my hubby.
The guy that introduced me to the Vikings in 1986, he was born in purple.

We'll be in a little rental car (no idea what yet) and decked in as much purple as I can find.
OH!
I'll be wearing my Vikings Santa hat if that helps.
I sure hope we can get in Lot V, that would be the icing on the cake!

We're bailing out on the company Christmas party to go to this, gotta have priorities!

I was going to go but had some technicalities but I made this huge sign.
It said

"YOU SEE THE BACK OF 2-8 IT TOO LATE!!!"

If anyone wants to use that sign for any game they can. I may not be able to go to any game unless we end up in the playoffs.
