The 36-year-old Winfield informed the Seahawks today that he plans to retire, according to Jay Glazer of FOX Sports.

Doesn't look like he's interested in being a Viking again

Wishing Antoine Winfield the best in his decision to retire. He's a consummate pro and a great team player. We were lucky to have him!

Think about it... He was suppose to make 7 million.. we offered 2 million... how hard do you think it will be to have him back playing for 750K. I think pride wouldn't stop most people from taking that step.

He is making the right decision and so did Spielman. Too many fans still think he is 29 and not 36 and forget that he has had trouble staying healthy for a few years and the latest injury just reinforces that. He had become a liability in coverage and it is time to move on and develop a new younger player for the spot. Whether they have the right guy on the roster or not doesn't change the fact that he was no longer a good option.

Not true at all. He was the best corner we had last season and one of the top corners in the league when healthy.

False. He was a liability in coverage and the reason he had so many tackles is he never contested the passes and let everything get completed so he had no choice but to make a lot of tackles. If he was one of the best CB's in the league he would have been picked up faster than it took for Seattle to sign him and there would have been enough demand that he wouldn't have had to retire.

He had his time but that time had passed and it was time to put him out to pasture just like it was time for your name sake.Who was the same age.

I really enjoyed his play in MN. Here is to Winny!!!!

If he couldn't make the Seahawks team, that doesn't mean he couldn't make other teams. But, most teams will lean towards youth at this stage. Winfield would be a guy to pick up later in the year for the 750,00 for a playoff team that has an injury.

Anyway, happy retirement. Thanks for the many good year in MN.

    Link?

How does a guy who had 3 INT's & 15 passes defensed last year be guilty of never contesting passes and letting everything get completed?

    2012:
Winfield: Passes defensed: 15, INTís: 3, Solo tackles: 72
Smith: Passes defensed: 14, INTís: 3, Solo tackles: 74
