I find it hard to compare players that play different positions.

But you are right, he is an impact player.

    Jimmy Hitchcock

Credit to Cagey on that one.

Personally, I don't think there is intelligent life on other planets. Why should other planets be any different from this one?

AW isn't blessed with the greatest physical attributes (like size and speed), but he gets more out of his body than anyone else on the team.
He is a great football player that plays with a lot of heart.
If more Vikings played the game the way he did we would see a lot more W's.

Definitely one of my favorites and glad to see him get some recognition.

Defensive Players of the WeekAntoine Winfield, CB, Minnesota. He put on a clinic at Green Bay, on defense and special teams. He played a clinging cover cornerback against Donald Driver and Greg Jennings; Brett Favre directed 23 passes at those two receivers, and they caught 10, for 101 yards and no scores. Winfield had eight tackles, four pass deflections, a crucial fumble recovery at the Minnesota one with the Packers trying to go in for the go-ahead touchdown in the fourth quarter. On the kickoff following Minnesota's lone score of the game to take a 7-6 lead, Winfield leveled returner Vernand Morency with a sleep-inducing, fit-for-Jacked-Up open-field tackle.
Of course, Peter King's just a fat idiot who doesn't know anything about football, so you can just ignore what he wrote about the Vikings best player.

When ever I hear him talk all I hear is Charlie Brown's teachers voice.

Randle has far more sacks than any DT to ever play the game, and is #5 on the all time sacks list, he was hands down a better player than Winfield is. There is no comparison.

Like I said, it is a completely different beast bewteen a lineman and a CB.

Kind of like saying Kareem way better than Jason Kidd.
You really cannot compare the two.

    Yes, it's very difficult.
But I don't think it's a stretch to be able to say things like - "During his prime, Lawrence Taylor was the best defensive player in the game".

Oh - and Kareem was a billion times better than Jason Kidd.
Prime career, you take Kareem over Kidd 100 times out of 100.
    The sky-hook was unstoppable.

No, it is not a strectch to say that about LT.
But to pick out certain players at completely different postions and compare them...you cannot.
When you say "the best defensive player of his day" you are looking at the overall impact.

Oh - and yes Kareem was 100x better.
I was using that to prove my point that these are 2 completlet different positions and hard to compare.
Unless you look at overall value to the team.

No, you can't compare the direct stats and such, because the responsibilities are different.
I suppose one measuring stick could be - who would you miss the most if he were injured for the season?
On the 2006 Vikings defense, that's clearly Winfield.
