Reckon the Vikings should take some of the posters from here to write a column for them. Sure it will a lot more insightful than that ...

    Defensive Backs
The defensive backfield is almost as set as the linebacking position. With Cedric Griffin emerging as one of the better young corners in the league, he will join Dwight Smith, Darren Sharper, and Antoine Winfield as the virtual surefire starters. Fred Smoot is one of the more likely players to not return among the rumored possibilities. Tank Williams could be back, but that is by no means a lock to happen. Young corners Ronyell Whitaker, Charles Gordon, and Will Hunter saw some time due to injuries and will all be fighting for roster spots. Greg Blue has a slightly stronger hold on a job due to his special teams play and by virtue of sheer numbers—there are not as many backup safeties on the team. The team could use some depth and it is likely they look to do so through the draft knowing that their needs are probably a couple years away as opposed to immediate in terms of starting roles. Nate Clements and Asante Samuel are the best two free agent corners, but again, will command starting money and a starting job.

One thing he didn't mention is that we will also get back Devonte Edwards from injury and will add more depth at the corner position.
What we've got here is failure to communicate.
