    Adrian wins Maxwell Awrard for MVP of NFL

    I was just watching NFL Network and Ron Jaworski reported that the Maxwell club has announced that Adrian Peterson was the NFL MVP. He said they send out 2000 ballots to coaches, players, members, etc. THey got 1100 or so back and Adrian was the choice for the MVP.

    The same club that hands out several of the big time college individual awards. Obviously the Maxwell isnt the most observed award in the NFL, but it is still a nice accomplishment. Often times the Maxwell winner in college is a better playerd than the Heisman winner. Assuming theyre not the same player.

    Tarkenton and Cunningham both won it, Cunningham in 98 and Tarkenton in like 75 or something.

    Yeah ... it has been around forever and is recognized as the No. 2 or No. 3 MVP award behind the AP (the one the NFL rcognizes) and about on par with the Sporting News.
    This is a big deal for AP. Good for him.

    The club presents several awards to college and professional football players, coaches, and others, including:

    * Maxwell Award for College Player of the Year

    * Chuck Bednarik Award for College Defensive Player of the Year

    * Bert Bell Award for Professional Player of the Year

    * Jim Henry Award for Area Student-Athlete Football Player of the Year

    * Earle "Greasy" Neale Award to the Professional Coach of the Year

    * George Munger Award for College Coach of the Year

    * Reds Bagnell Award for Contributions to the Game of Football

    * Tri-State Coach of the Year Award

    * Tri-State Player of the Year Award

    * Harrah's Broadcast Award

    * The Spirit Award

    * Al Lucas Award for Arena Football League Player of the Year

    Looks to me like the only award they hand out to pro players is the Bert Bell award.

    The Maxwell award is for college athletes according to the link.
