I am glad he is here and thinks he makes us better.
If I were Chester though, I would have a hard time always playing second fiddle when I knew I could be the feautred back on some other team.
CT's personality may be fine with not being the featured guy, most pro-athletes would have a hard time with this when they felt they could be the #1 guy somewhere else.

If you win a couple SB's, I guess that helps with the whole legacy issue.
Some good points in there as well my friend.
Only thing though is that the predominance of the teams are either already/or will shortly, employ the 2 back approach.

Additionally, he will probably always be a guy that needs reps off as well even if he is a starter someplace.
My guess is he is happy were he is at (things are looking up), nice check, still gets plenty of recognition and on a team that wants him.

Just don't see him wanting to go elsewere.
Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v343/josdin00/Vikings/Marrdro_sig.jpg

Re: Adrian Peterson - Just a nice start

Maybe being the No.1 best backup in the league to the No.1 best RB in the league is enough for CT.
Especially, if my hopeful prediction of 2000 yards for AP, And 1000 yards for CT comes true!!

Got to love the kid's goals!!!

So what does he do for an encore?

"Reach my goals," Peterson said. "Get to the Super Bowl. Do whatever I can to prepare myself and to help my team accomplish that goal. If I run for 2000 yards during the season, and we get to the Super Bowl game and we win, I'm satisfied.
You guys seen this top ten plays for the Vikings 2007?
Its on nfl.com go to video, click teams, Vikings, second page...or hopefully, this link will work too.
Anyway, seeing the kid in action again kind of got me all tingly with excitement...I guess I've been so focused on what our new passing game might bring, that I kind of forgot for a minute just how special this kid is!
It really makes me feel that we've got the pieces in place to win a championship...great defense, great running backs, good special teams, and just enough passing to glue the rest together!!

Sounds like you are trying to convince CT why he should stay so we can continue to have the luxury of having two great backs.
Like I said, I'm glad he is here and hope he stays, I just think if I was him I would have a little something pulling at me saying what would my career have been if I was #1.

I agree that he is getting a nice paycheck from the Vikings and it will start getting harder for him to find similar money elsewhere...The longer he stays the more likely he stays.
I believe this is his 7th year as well so the ship may have already sailed for CT after this season for good starter money elsewhere.

Nice video, makes it hard to wait for the season to start.
I've recorded the Vikings/Bear replay game, but haven't had a chance to watch it yet.
Here's to hoping AD reaches his goals this year.
    He just might.

    IMO, CT isn't a backup.
Sure anyone not listed as a starter is a backup technically.

    * CT is going to get more touches than a any backup.

    * CT will get just as many plays as he is the better pass blocker and will be in for most.

    * there really isn't a controversy as to who is the better RB.

    * CT is under contract and isn't going to start whining for a trade, like too many players are.
    * Finally, if CT wants a Super Bowl, he should know that MN is his best shot.

    CT is needed.
Vikes running game is critical to their success and having 2 starting RB's is required.

*I doubt he will get more carries than any other second back in the league.

*Hopefully AD's pass blocking will be much improved this year.

*Agreed, that's why he should leave
    *How do you know that?
*Like your optimism, but if it was just about SB, why not go to NE and compete with Maroney for #1

--Agreed Vikings need him, but how much does he need the Vikings?

When AD is healthy, CT is a backup.. second fiddle, the other RB.. oh yea they have Chester as well guy.
If AD starts pass blocking better, he won't get yanked as much as last season.
AD will get taken out only as much as it maximizes his effectiveness.
His nickname is All Day for a reason.
Adrian's carries should never be limited because they want to get Chester his carries.
If AD becomes a back that only gets stronger as the game goes on, you won't sit him down in a game that is in doubt.
Chester is a role player for us with AD.

I see Chester's carries continuing to reduce.

Chester will still see a lot of carries, but I see it diminishing as will his importance to the team.
As a Vikings fan, I hope he stays, and he probably will at this point at least until his contract is up.
If I'm Chester's #1 fan and only looking out for his best interests I would recommend he try and find a place where he can be the featured back.

Because then he would just be a sellout like Moss, Seau and the rest of the players that went there expecting a ring.
Of course, look what happened last season and you will see that there are no guarantees in life.
Besides, if the Vikings don't win it, it will most likely be the Colts that do, not the Pats.

Re: Adrian Peterson - Just a nice start

I love how this thread turned into a CT thread so quickly. By the way ... all those with purple blinders on ... CT would not be a feature back "almost anywhere." There are a few places he would get a chance to be the feature back and ALOT of places where he would see significant time with another player, but there are a small number of teams where he would be a feature back ... so no ... he is not going to get grumpy, he understand that he has it about as good as it gets right now.
As for Adrian. I love that he does not seem satisfied with anything and he seems like the kind of kid who never will. He goes all out every play and what he has done before does not matter to him. I am truly honored to have someone with this kind of talent, potential, desire and work ethic all rolled into one on the team I pull for on Sundays.
