    Adam Schefter on Porter

This is from an article from Schefter "Deal or No Deal" on NFL.com.
Note that he also goes on to say, Five trades that will never be."
He talks about 5 trades and this one was number 2.

    2) Oakland wide receiver Jerry Porter to Minnesota for a conditional third-round pick: The teams that are used to being involved in blockbuster receiver deals should pull off another. Porter has destroyed much of his value, but he's still worth a third-round pick that could climb to a second based on playing time.

It should be called "trades that will never be and for a good reason"

Porter is garbage, and not worth a second rounder, even without the attitude.

I like Porter, for a 3rd rounder, that is my opinion and I am sticking to it.

    Why not?
No, don't answer that, it is just assuming the worst will happen even before it happens.

Bethel Johnson didn't cost us anything at all really, but if he doesn't make an impact, then it still wasn't really worth it.

Just wondering what are you going by when you say Porter is garbage?

Everyone is blaming him for what's going on in Oakland.
The last time I looked the entire team is unhappy.
It makes me wonder whther or not it is Porter or is it the coaching staff and front office?

    Here are the guys stats.
Not that stats mean a great deal a lot of times but considering the guy has only really played 3 years and has 24 TDs and plenty of catches over 20 yards, I'd say he was pretty good.

Furthermore tell me what any of the Viking WRs on the team now has done that is better than Porter.
If you want to say someone is garbage tell us why you think so.
I have no problem debating things just give reasons.
Anyone can make a random statement.

    Re: Adam Schefter on Porter

Someone a while back made a good comment about not going after NAMES to fix the problem.
You can't expect it to fix it long term.

But, if you are thinking long term, which the new regime hasn't been here long enough to do, you draft and find long term replacements. But in the mean time, we might need to plug some holes.
They made that decision last year about the line and got Hutch.

WR and O line are like the 2 hottest topics = so called problem areas.

Might as well try to fix it.
I think the O Line will be alright, but the WRs are a question for me. Drops and Fumbes and Getting Open?

If we don't make a trade, then I say Childress believes that they just haven't comprehended the offensive scheme yet.

    Porter is just another name.
    Screw him.
One example why, if Sapp, another known loud mouth speaks out against someone...theoretically, that someone has to be more of a head case than Sapp.

    KFFL
Raiders | Sapp speaks out on Porter - from www.KFFL.com
    Thu, 27 Jul 2006 14:41:14 -0700

Oakland Raiders DT Warren Sapp spoke about WR Jerry Porter's ongoing holdout from training camp and trade demands during an interview on SIRIUS NFL Radio. Sapp said that the team does not feel obligated to pull him aside and advise him to come into camp. "People talk about football being a family. It's not a family. It's a brotherhood of men," said Sapp. "Because in a family, if the baby is lagging behind everybody stops and waits for the baby to catch up. We can't wait for the baby to catch up. We gotta go. This thing's coming and when it's coming it is coming full speed ahead and we want to be ready to go with what we got. And if he's not gonna be a part of what we got going then some kind of way we've got to find a way to make him happy. Trade him or whatever he wants because you can't have a malcontent on a team where on Sunday we're gonna be looking for you to make plays."
There are many examples of Porter being a headcase.
    Fuck him.
The game is bigger than any individual.
Again, if we can upgrade our cheerleading staff with the trade it might be worth a look, no picks and no coin.

I have to agree with you Snow.
To be honest I would be willing to trade T. Taylor and a late or compensatory draft pick for Porter.
    Taylor fumbles and drops passes.
Porter would be a good pick up for the Vikings.

I would make the trade...for a CONDITIONAL pick...the more he produces, the higher the pick...that way, no gain, no pain!!!

    Re: Adam Schefter on Porter

You have to remember the Childress was the guy that delt Culpepper for something just like this.
Its clear that he won't put up with that crap, so why would he go out and sign a guy and brings the problems to him?

Will the signing of Porter make us a superbowl caliber team?
The answer is no, and thats why trading for him is not wise.
Make love to the present, fuck the past
