Given what I feel Spielman will end up with for his "value" WR corp come opening day this season, coupled with Ponder's limited accurate throwing range, AD is probably going to get enough touches to have a shot at hitting that goal.

I am guessing he is closer to 1600 than 2500 at the end of the year.

Pretty safe guess. Anything under 2050 yards puts him closer to 1600 than 2500.

But yes, going over 2000 in consecutive seasons is pretty hard to believe.

I definitely would not be shocked to see him flirting with Dickerson again. I would not be shocked to see him get to 2,000 again.

I think he is really that good.

That said ... it will be EXTREMELY difficult to be AD2Kx2 ... much less get to 2,500. I like his goals and know that he is going to give everything he has for the Vikings every single game. Not a whole lot more than that I can ask for.

With Ponders improved upcoming performances , the new receivers Spielman picks up this offseason and Mugsrave opening up the passing game next year, AD will not be relied on so heavily. We also have a tougher schedule next year. I do not see 2000+ as much of a possibility. I'd be glad to see him get it, but hopefully we do not have to count on that.

Ha, that's what I was thinking. If AD is rushing for 2500 next year, it'll be because Ponder is still struggling. Plus it'll make us a painfully imbalanced team. At 6 yards per carry he'll need 416 carries (26 per game) which would tie the single season carries record set by Larry Johnson in 2006.

I just wish athletes would keep their goals to themselves, especially when they're this ridiculous. You just look like an ass when you come up way short. Right Chris Johnson? He predicted he'd rush for 2500 in 2010 after his 2000 yard season in 2009.

He ended up with 1364 yards on 316 carries (4.3 avg). In fact he didn't even rush for 2500 yards in 2010 and 2011 combined (2411 yards). I know CJ is no AD, but these bold prediction never bode well for these guys.
