Re: AD vs Moss. Who has the better rookie year?

This is the most difficult question I have ever answered.
    I voted for Moss.

If AD can keep this up for 8 more weeks - topping 2,000 yards - then I'll have to go with AD.
But there's a long way to go.

Moss was something that nobody in this league had seen, couldn't be stopped, and turned a 9-7 team into a 15-1 team.

AD is amazing and has essentially won us 2 games by his lonesome.
But other runningbacks have run for 2,000 yards.
Other running backs have scored 16 TDs.
And lets face it, our all around team is just not as impressive, which takes some of the shine off.

But if he runs for 2,000 yards, then that's the best rookie season ever.
    Period.

Definitely not the toughest question I've ever answered, but, difficult, nontheless.
AD has played 8 games, Moss' rookie season is complete.
Moss changed the entire dynamics of the team.
He made an old QB an MVP, he made another QB a pro-bowler, his speed opened up the middle for the TE, Cris Carter, AND Robert Smith, Moe Williams.
    Moss changed the game.
Peterson may very well have a better rookie year, but, he's only half way there.
Certainly, you can make the argument that AD doesn't have the supporting cast, which is true.
Moss vs Peterson...we should be happy that we've been a part of two of the greatest rookies of all time.

I must say though, midgensa nailed it...I was in the Dome for Moss' first home game; it was obvious he was the fastest player on the football field, and defenses had no idea how to manage him.
It may be soon that defensive coordinators stop 8 in the box because DBs don't fair well when trying to tackle Peterson, however, Moss clearly changed everyone's defensive scheme when playing the Vikes.

    My vote (for now) Moss.
What a great problem to have, kibitzing over this question as fans of the Vikes.

Yup. Right now the rookie rushing record is 1,808 yards by Eric Dickerson for the Los Angeles Rams in 1983
    :P

oh and AP vs Moss?.. well honestly i think mosses rookie year is going to be an extremely hard one to top.
AP is downright amazing, but a player like Moss changes a defense so much.
There are ways of defending against AP (granted no one's done it too well yet
), but even if Moss didnt have a single catch in a game, that means he opened up the field more for Carter, Reed, or Smith, just by drawing extra attention from the DBs.

So.. in my opinion.. rookie year vs rookie year, moss hands down (so far, seasons only half over).
But.. thats cuz he's a WR, its just a more game changing position (not that AP doesnt change what a defense does)

But interesting fact for u guys in case you didnt hear it earlier today.
Adrian Peterson tied Randy Moss' franchise record of 7 50+ yard plays in a single season. One more and its another record in his personal book.

I'd rather keep AP over Moss if the choice was mine right now tho

    Both are extremely good.
AD is doing it with less of a supporting cast, but Moss did it as a WR which I'm inclined to believe is harder.
yeah moss did it as a wide out, which is harder, but he also had chris carter and jake reed...
Which means he put up those stats as a #3 option, which makes it more impressive.
It's not like teams didn't catch on to Moss after a few games of ridiculous plays.

At least RBs get a lot of carries.
I like it for arguments sake ... but c'mon ... the No. 3 option? Everyone knows that by mid-season he was the No. 1 on the team and by then end of game one he had already suplanted Reed as No. 2. No. 1's get the double coverage ... and he clearly got it from about week 4 on.

AD is chamging how defenses think too. There will always be at least 8 in the box. And right now defenses will fear AD just as much as they ever feared Moss. Moss also has CC playing on the other side.

yea he is, no doubt about that.
The only difference is Moss opened up the field more for Carter, Reed, & Smith.
Thats why his Rookie year to me is hands down better, 15-1.. in a season we SHOULD have went 16-0 & been Super Bowl champs
    :P

Adrian is a game breaker, hands down, but unfortunatly right now we dont have an offense that can capitilize on them stacking the box and throw it over them.. but yea
