Elling dosent stink. hes not the best kicker in the world but hey at least hes not missing converts like when we had Doug Brien and then had to bring back old Gary Anderson. This guy does have potential to be a good kicker just give him time. And he will win many games for us, in fact there was some games last year we would have lost with out his efforts.Uh...hate to be the voice of reason here, but Aaron Elling stinks. He can't hit the endzone on kickoffs, EVER! He will never actually win a game for us. However, the Vikes are not a field goal kicking team anyway. They either beat the crap out of teams or the other team blows them away. Two seasons ago was a fluke with all those close games they had. As much as I don't want to admit it, because I hate the Eagles with a burning passion, David Ackers is the best and I have seen him win alot of games for those overrated bums.
And every team is a field goal team your success as a team often relies on it just look at the NFC Championship against the Falcons came down to a field goal. If we werent a field goal team wouldnt that mean that we would gamble instead of kick a field goal more often than not.

As much as that hurts to read and think about... you're very right! The thing is, it doesn't matter if he's good all year.
Gary Anderson was good all year.

Anyone who thinks we lost the NFC championship because of Gary
Anderson, either didn't watch the game or doesn't have a clue what
this game is about. Anderson was superb for us all season long.
DennyGreene single handedly lost the game. Up by 6 with 1&1/2 minutes to go at half , he kneeled on the ball!! The highest scoring
offense in the history of the game ....in our own house...and he has them
kneel on the F**kn ball. Game was over at that point....... Came out
completely flat the second half. Worst play calling I've ever seen.
Denny Green.......100% his fault. No one else to blame. God why did
it take so long to get rid of him? Well we all know reason..don't we?

You could go and find blame in a lot of people in that game. Players and coaches will make numerous mistakes in a game even if they are not glaring stuff happens. I guarantee it.
It dosent matter how they get into a situation they still have do there job. So even though it wasnt anderson's fault that he was put in the position to kick the game winning field goal. He still has to kick it.
The reason why Anderson will be forever blamed for the loss is that he was in the spotlight.not many people will remeber the lead up to the kick. Most fans just know he is the Kicker and its his job to kick field goals. And he didnt succesfully make it so in there eyes its his fault the Vikings lost.
So I guess after all my rambling im saying its not one single coach or players fault. Every player and coach had an equal share in the loss.

Gary Anderson makes the kick = Superbowl
Gary Anderson misses the kick = Go Home
Simple...Even babies know the difference.

rest of team not putting him in that position = superbowl
rest of team putting him in that situation = he misses. go home
