5 Best Viking Wide Receivers in Their History?

Which Gene Washington was better? I think that the SF Gene works for the league. Don't know where the MN Gene is, though.

AC was great but not sure that he would take out any of those other 5. Although remember that game with Wade Wilson in I think it was 88 at San Fran when we won?
One of the best Viking games ever...upsetting the Niners in San Fran in the playoffs. Four sacks on Montana, I think a couple were from Chris Doleman who is my all time favorite Viking.

5 Best Viking Wide Receivers in Their History?

Although I've got a soft spot in my heart of course for Minnesota's Gene, I think SF Gene outperformed him at least statistically...Minny Gene had about 172 catches in 6 years with Vikes for about 3000 yards. (Boy, has football ever changed from those days!) He had 23 TD's in those 6 seasons. By comparison, SF Gene played 9 seasons with the Niners with 370 catches for about 6600 yards and 59 TD's. Both Gene's had a 17.8 yds per catch for their careers. But then again, SF had John Brodie I believe in those days, while Minny Gene had Big Joe Kapp and Gary Cuozzo. Tarkenton came just as Minny Gene was leaving!

5 Best Viking Wide Receivers in Their History?

    I don't remember Gilliam

So I would have to say ( and I rank these sentimentally)

    Cris Carter
Ahmad Rashad (Bobby something, help me out here)
    Randy Moss
    Sammy White
    Anthony Carter

Man, I hated watching Carter take the spotlight from AC but it was all good in retrospect. Man it was fricking awesome. All those one handed grabs. And I can't even recall a dropped pass like the one moss had the other night on 3rd down until late in CC's career. Moss might be the most talented physically but CC will always be my favorite and I think the best Viking receiver. Moss might eclipse CC in every category, but I will stick with CC til I die.

Bobby Brown, I think. (It's My Perogative to think that I am correct about this). I know, bad, bad, bad.

Sam McCullum, Jim Lash, and Hassan Jones

He was really fantastic. I have some old 70's games on tape and Gilliam was very underrated. Great receiver.

Couldn't agree with you more. Cris Carter will always be my favorite.

5 Best Viking Wide Receivers in Their History?

When I first started watching, it was Ahmad and Sammy. Atleast when I first started remembering names, 3,4,5 yrs old??

I don't remember much about Rice's early years but was he as cocky as Moss. For some reason I doubt it. He was so lucky to be in the NFL where Moss was suppose to be in the NFL. Different perspectives coming into the league.

I will have to pay attention when the NFL films from the early 70's come on for the name Gilliam. I probably seen some. Which QBs did he play with?

Only Tarkenton. He was with the Vikings for only 4 seasons but they were among the Vikings' greatest seasons: 1972-1976

His stats don't look like much on paper, but trust me, he was a good one and a clutch player.
