    Fixed it for you.

    Question was 40 or 60?
    Ans. 60

    These aren't to hard.
Anyone with a pocket protector and google can find them.
What will be fun is the story behind it that should make all of you rethink your fixation on individual awards such as MVP's.

    a.
What does 40 for 60 mean?

    b.
    Who coined it?

    c.
    When did he coin it?

    d.
What did he do at end of season team dinner?
Here is the answer to all of your questions.

He should have accepted his award instead of embarrassing the organization that gave it to him.
    ;D
    Not to worry.
Kapp embarrassed himself the next year by demanding a huge raise, much more money than Bud Grant thought he was worth.
He was summarily traded to the Boston Patriots, where he suffered an ignominious season (3 TDs, 17 INTs) that was his final one in the NFL.
It turned out Kapp was truly only one of 40 most valuable Vikings.
I'm surprised that good ol' Marr would still try to use Kapp as an example of team.
Sounds like Kapp was worse than anybody.
Also sounds like the only reason he turned down the award was to draw attention to himself and make himself seems like a better person than he really was.

Now don't go too fare there.
As I recall, Kapp and Jim Marshall once got into a fistfight after a game because they were arguing what side of the team caused the Vikings to lose the game.
Kapp argued it was the offense's fault, and Marshall argued it was the defense's fault.
    It evenutally came to fisticuffs.

    A. B. & C. are a no-brainer.

As far as to what he did at the end of the season dinner, I believe that is when he turned down an award that was bestowed upon him, because he felt it was "40-60" & the team deserved an award & not solely him.

Can't recollect for sure if that was a league given player award or a team given award, but he did turn it down.
It was a team award my friend.

His quote was, "I was sitting with the DLmen at the award dinner and thought they would kill me if I accepted"....

A little insight into the simple, yet complex mind that is Marrdro.
When the Patriots (I think it was them) refused to be introduced individualy for a SB a few years back I actually shed a tear.
Boy did I get ribbed at the party.
    ;D

Maybe its just me, but each and every coach I ever played for (Basketball, Baseball, Football, and yes Track) all stressed the team concept.
I guess I bought into it whole heartedly cause thats the way I still feel today.

So no, for me, even though it is how the media pushes it, it isn't "Star Power" that draws me.
I has been and will always be the "Team Concept".
To this day I marvel (especially Football) when "Teams" play like "Teams" and absolutely bristle when individual honors/awards are highlighted.

    What a yutz huh?
    ;D

So let me get this right......

On the Vikes he was a dominant QB
but when he was disconnected from that team he sucked.

Kindof hammers home the point don't you think?

Of course, anyone who knows the whole story would probably attribute how and when he arrived to the team as more of a contributor to the whole mess than his skillset...... :
