28 million dollars under the cap
with the increase in the salary cap to $109,000,000.00 the Vikings are now 28 million under the cap.
I do not think we tried to sign any high profile free agents.
Maybe, there were none out there for the positions we need.
We will have plenty of room under the cap next year then.

Re: 28 million dollars under the cap
Do you have a link as a source for that?
I for one think we will sign a couple of FA before the season starts.
These guys could be picked up after teams cut them for a reasonable price (historically) to fill holes that the team still see's as positions that need depth.
Probably a OG, DE or possibly even another WR.
WR -
The organization targeted two WR in FA.
Curtis and Wade.
They landed Wade.
I assume they still might want to bring in one more guy.
OG -
Right side is still a question in alot of peoples minds.
We do have alot of guys going to camp but if someone comes free that fits the ZB scheme they might pick him up.
DE - I am still not sold on Erasmus coming back right away.
If the right guy at the right price becomes avail they could pick him up as insurance.
Again, this is all dependant on the right guy, the right price, and if the organization isn't seeing the right things from the guys they have currently on the roster.
Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.

It helps when you post the link directly to the resource you are talking about.Zeus wrote:
When are you going to realize that picking out the 20 bad throws this year and ignoring the 300 good ones does not make your point?

We are trying to build a team through signing
young unproven players and tbrough the draft. The Redskins spend millions every year and they are never better than average.

That is because Daniel Snyder is like a kid and a candy store.
He will buy whatever and everything he can.
New England signs a few key free agents every year.
It looks like it has been working for them.

The low cap this year definetely could help us with future years.
Vikings Already Aiming For 2008If there's good news for Vikings fans, it's that unlike timeouts, you can save cap space. Since it it's a near certainty that the Vikings will have more than $15 million in cap room when the season arrives, they can work deals with players that offer large bonuses for likely to be earned incentives that they'll never actually achieve. By doing that, Minnesota would have all of those bonuses charged against the 2007 cap, but when they aren't achieved, they will be given a credit for that money for the 2008 season. If the Vikes can roll $15-20 million over to the 2008 cap, they can hopefully use it to bring in a couple of big free agents at the time when this and last year's draft classes have gelled into solid veterans.

All the kids my age pee their pants, it's the coolest.

When you think about it though...without the Tuck Rule and Kasey shanking that last kickoff in the second Patsy SB win, it wouldn't have worked THAT good. That is because Daniel Snyder is like a kid and a candy store.
