2009 Minnesota Vikings Defensive Line
Are there any D-lines in the league right now that are better?
In fact when was there a D-line that was better than this group assembled?
I believe Edwards is a little underrated on this line, but it's easy to be overlooked when you have 3 other pro-bowlers on the line with you.
Sorry a little bored this Saturday morning.....
Re: 2009 Minnesota Vikings Defensive Line
Minnesota Vikings:
Alan Page, Carl Eller, Jim Marshall, and Gary Larsen
LA Rams:
Lamar Lundy, Rosey Grier, Merlin Olsen, Deacon Jones
Steelers:
Mean Joe Greene, LC Greenwood, Ernie Holmes, Dwight White
But I would wager we are starting to get to a tier similar to these guys.
I just think the Vikes and Rams DLines from back in the day were unbelievable.
We are great (especially v. the run) but without significant play in the playoffs, I just can't put us up there.

Sorry should have put, when was the LAST time there was a group this good! Obviously there have been some ridiculously good lines...

In recent memory, I would put the Giants D-Line up there from 07.
We are better v. the run, but the sole reason they won the SB is because of that pass rush.
Its hard to put other D-Lines up with us, especially when most of the league is switching to a 3-4 style D.
Re: 2009 Minnesota Vikings Defensive Line
On paper the Vikes D line looks good.
Their 1st game against a weak opponent looked good.
But until the Vikes Dline faces a quality opponent, which probably won't be until week 4, and maybe not even then, if the Pack OL continues to play like they did against the Bears.
Bears were all over Rodgers.
Chief's DL had 0 QB hurry and only 1 sack against the Ravens.
KC's DL is not that great, but IMO the Ravens OL is damn good and will be the Vikes DL's first real test.

Certainly is a killer line!
I love it

They won't be considered one of the great lines until the team does something great that immortalizes them.
They have the talent to be there, though.

I agree.
Lets hope this is the year.
