    And....?
You think we can turn this trainwreck around?

I don't think much has changed.
The only big difference is Longwell made game-wining field-goals at the beginning of last season.
    Other that that....

    Our offense still sucks.
We can't score points or move the ball very effectively.

    Our coaching still sucks.
A.D. had 9 rushes for 100 yards in the first half and what, 3 carries in the second?
Reason being we were tiring out our best offensive weapon on kick returns.
Especially when both Allison and Williamson have shown some explosiveness at the position.
We are in Shotgun 59% of the time in the second half.
So there isn't even the threat of runing. Somehow, with a year and half and two defensive coaches, we still haven't figured out how to stop the 6-12 yard pass.

At least Kluwe is having an awesome year.
    Yes.
The QB situation sucks and everyone knew that going into the season.
There was a divergence on whether the Vikings should get a veteran QB or go with TJack and let him get some experience.
I was in the get a veteran QB camp, but, the coaching staff decided to go with TJack.

Like I've said before, 70% of the losses since Childress began coaching the team are by one score or less.
It would not take an incredible offense to turn things around.
Three losses by 3 pts, 3 pts, and 7 pts.
    Definitely could turn things around.
I still think and have said it before that 2008 is the year where everything better be clicking and I'm hoping for improvements this year.

The original question, which I didn't make up, was which team is better, this year's or last.
I stand by my statement, there are still 12 games left in the season.
You can argue that all you want, and, guess what.
There will still be 12 games left in the season all week long.

Contrary to public opinion, the sky is not falling.

Completely agree...even down to the bring in a veteran QB camp, which I was in too.
It is, in my opinion, impossible to say a team that added Adrian Peterson, Sidney Rice, Marcus McCauley, and Brian Robison is worse than last year.
I stated this Summer that I thought it possible this team could improve and have a worse record...which may ultimately happen.
Fact remains, they invested alot in TJack and are in a position to see if they can get a return on that investment.
We spent ALOT of time this Summer debating QB, we'll spend much more to be sure.
We'll see if TJack has it.

Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent

About the same, which is pathetic and unacceptable.

We need to see some progress.

Re: Are the 2007 Vikings better than the 2006 vikings?

I think the team has more talent at the coaches disposal this year than last year due to the drafting of AP and Rice coupled with the fact we had too many talented players on the shelf with injuries last year while this year we have been pretty lucky with no key players going down so far. The combination of those two give the talent edge to this year. It is the job of the coaches to put that talent in a position to win and that part of the equation is a work in progress.

We are better and will have a better record when the year is over, even if it is 7-9.
I am hoping for 9-7 atleast.
It just depends on when we get this wagon train a rollin.
Of course this is all just wishful thinking, but 9-7 isn't out of reach.
Four score and seven years ago, Brad Childress has brought upon this team, a west coast offense, conceived in San Francisco, and Dedicated to be a Kick jiggly butt offence. We are now engaged in an NFL season, testing weather that offense can get going or that our defense can long endure.

The team is better and more talented this year except for the quarterback position. It's the coaching and game management that is worse this year. This team will not grow as we all would like it too until childress is disposed of. Get a good quarterback, a defensive back or two and a head coach and this team will be a contender.

What constitutes the sky is falling in your eyes? 2 years of the same pooh? Going into a third year with no QB?

I voted worse. We have more talent and less wins. Doesnt matter if they are by 1 or 100 points. We need a HC who knows how to win.
I think it would be something along the lines of that movie "The Day After Tomorrow:"
The film portrays the eye of the superstorms as having such a low pressure that extremely cold air (âË*’150 °F or âË*’101 °C) from the upper troposphere is sucked downward, instantly freezing all who are caught in the eye.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Day_After_Tomorrow

I actually think we're better than we were last year.
Not much, but I believe we're about the same on defense and better on offense.
Our offense has more playmakers (one), and a QB that gives us a chance to move the ball and score.
Our offensive numbers, other than scoring, aren't terrible.

Of course, we're at 1-3, and our record was better last year.
But the quality of our team is not the same as the quality of our team's results.
    They're related, not identical.
I personally believe that a team that repeatedly wins by 100 points is not the same as a team that wins by 1 point.
Likewise, a team that loses by one score all the time is not the same as a team that loses by multiple scores.

    Disagree?
    Let me ask you this:
Team A has beaten 5 teams in a row, each by at least 35 points.
Team B, against the same quality of opponents, has beaten 5 teams in a row, each by less than 7 points.
Which team are you going to bet on to win when these two teams play each other?
The Lions lost 9 games last year by by 7 points or less. They finished 3-13. I certainly wouldn't put money on them. I certainly wouldn't put money on this years Vikes either untill they play something that resembles an offense. Unless the other team is favored by 10 and the Vikes are at home.

    Yes.
I'm not gonna give my reasons again for the umteeeeenth time

Suffice it to say, I am an optimist who sees the bigger picture unlike some naysayers who only dwell on the negative and never see any of the positive.

If they can't see the improvement the Vikings have made with the draft class we had this year, coupled with the return of Richardson & Greenway & the departure of Brad Johnson, then there is no point at all in trying to explain it to them.
