2007 Season Preview: Minnesota Vikings

2007 Season Preview: Minnesota Vikings

Jeff Risdon. 20th August, 2007 - 2:56 pm
realgmfootball.com

In all my years of following the NFL, there haven’t been 5 worse QB/WR packages than what the Vikings are going to trot out this season. QB Tarvaris Jackson isn’t even close to ready to lead a passing attack, but the 2nd year man is the starter only because the other QB, Brooks Bollinger, has proven he’s incapable of doing anything positive....

Jeff Risdon.... you blow. What team are you looking at? Sure Tarvaris needs some time, but one second you're giving the recievers props, and the next you're dogging them. WTF, What Garbage.

Thanks Singer.

I actually thought his initial assesment/start was pretty good.
Overall the same stuff that everyone else is regurging except for maybe the stat on Wade.

It's going to be hard to back up the statement about the QB's when the starter doesn't have any track record yet. It seems to me the Bengals, Browns,Raiders,Niners,Cardinals and Ravens have all had years in the past decade where their QB situation was pretty bleak. I just named 6 I wouldn't trade places with and didn't think all that hard about it. Maybe he needs an easier job.

This is a perfect example...perfect, of a "journalist" who should be criticized.
There is no possible outcome this season that this guy hasn't covered.
Also, bold statements that are not backed up like Childress' "heavy handedness" and "lack of play calling ability" as well his comment "in all my years of following the NFL, there haven’t been 5 worse QB/WR packages than what the Vikings are going to trot out this season,"
indicate to me that he might as well be posting on an internet chat room.
I would bet that 70% of us have more years following the NFL than this guy (Uffda proved it
;D).
He further illustrates his lack of
knowledge by grading Birk (a pro-bowler, voted there largely by his peers) as an "above average C, when healthy."
Not sure if I care about the Wade stat because he doesn't define what it is.

I'm not sure if there is an easier job than he has right now...think about it, he absolutely could have written that article by monitoring PPO for the last two months.
I think the majority of us agree with his last statement, which, frankly, is the sentiment bantered about on NFL Network and ESPN.

Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent

I love the prediction.

"exciting young talent that has absolutely no shot at surpassing 6 wins."

" but if a capable new QB comes in (or Jackson miraculously improves), it’s not out of the question for this team to win the NFC North."

He's pretty well got it covered. They will either suck or be pretty good.

I guess, like the rest of us, he doesn't know which!
What takes a quarterback to the next level is not arm strength or mobility or any of that stuff. Its the ability to play on critical downs. Manage third downs, or red zones or four-minute or two-minute situations"

the special teams are no better than average and Longwell can’t even hit the 45 yarders anymore
yep that's why he hit a 54 yd FG against the Jets on Friday night
Peckerhead

Obviously does his research well - not !

Research requires effort.
Why put effort into something when people will read it anyways.
He doesn't make any less money if he writes a bunch of crap.

Looking At 2006 In The Rear View Mirror

When Brad Johnson stepped in for Daunte Culpepper in 2005 and finished the regular season with seven wins in nine games, the new coaching staff in Minnesota had reason to believe that Johnson still had some gas left in the tank for 2006....
