2007 Draft Prospects And Our Needs
I know it's probably early for this.
Assuming TJack is our QB of the future, our biggest needs are probably Offensive Line and Wide Receiver, then CB (replace Smoot) and possibly a pass rushing DE (still hoping Erasmus comes back strong).
Is anyone intrigued by this list of prospects?
Do we draft a WR high, which would go against traditional thinking?
Incidentally, I'm surprised Troy Smith was rated so low (31).
I wish I knew more about the guys ranked above him.

Re: 2007 Draft Prospects And Our Needs
Best possible athlete at either RG, RT, WR, DB, or DE.
We've got depth at RB, we've got our QB of the future, our left OL is solid, our LB's are actually a lot better than I thought they'd be, and we'll have Greenway next year to add to Harris, Henderson, and Leber.
We have a ton of potential at DE, but no good pash rushers.
We're more than solid with the Pat and Kevin in the middle, but we fail to get pressure on the QB.
We all know of the problems at WR.
As far as DB's I really like Griffin and Dovonte Edwards, but that's a position that you can never have too many solid guys playing.

Re: 2007 Draft Prospects And Our Needs
TJ is no doubt our future at QB.. I think very strongly that both Greenway, and James are going to come back strong next season..
Our main concern is O-Line, and WR.. We already know that T-Jack has the guns to throw downfield, so we need a WR to accomidate him..
For reason unknown to me, our secondary absolutely sucks.. We have all the talent in the world on defense, but just don't use it.. With the lineup we have in our secondary, it should be just as good as our defensive line..
So it is pretty obvious what we need, now will we get that is the question..

Re: 2007 Draft Prospects And Our Needs
Definetly a BPA draft for the Vikes. We should be able to fix most of our holes in FA before the draft. How about drafting a WR/KR/PR?

Re: 2007 Draft Prospects And Our Needs
Far and away, WR is our biggest need. I think we should get two. After that, we can look at OL, CB and DE in no particular order, just the BPA of those three spots.

Re: 2007 Draft Prospects And Our Needs
With the exception of Calvin Johnson, there is no WR on that list who would make an impact in his first year anyway.
We will need to address the WR position in the offseason through Free Agency.Zeus wrote:

Re: 2007 Draft Prospects And Our Needs
I checked the bio for Calvin Johnson.., he's a beast.
6-5, 235 lbs, runs a 4.3-40, and has a 43 inch vertical leap.
Sounds a lot like (sigh) Randy Moss, except without the attitude.

Re: 2007 Draft Prospects And Our Needs
We need depth at corner, a guard and (obviously) a wide receiver. I'd love to see Calvin Johnson become a Vike, but unless we're going to trade up (and we lose our next two games) it's not going to happen. Dwayne Jarrett is another guy I'd like to see in purple. Samaradjiza is another one.
Thankfully, this year's draft class is pretty good at the top as far as receivers go, and we're like to have a top 15 pick, so I think our odds of getting a good wide out in the first round is pretty good.
