Re: 20 years ago, any similarities to the 1987 Vikings.

This team was much different from that team.
    This team is better.
This team is better at running the ball and stopping the run.

People talk about us losing to Washington like it was ashocking thing.
Nope, go look up the vikings records against Washington in the 80's.
They beat us pretty soundly for every game of that decade.

The reason was a flaw in our scheme.
    We were finesse team.
We chose to use quick backs like DJ Dozier and Darren Nelson to run traps and misdirections stuff.
We also had a powerful air attack.

Yet Defensively as much as I love Keith Millard,
Hardware Hank and the Doug Martin, they got run over by the power teams like Washington.
They would just wear em down.
Little runs in 1st and second quarter would be big ones by the fourth.
    It was sick to watch

This years Vikings team is not a finesse team, which I'm ecstatic about because for once we get to dictate the game.

The Vikings of the late 80's and early 90's never could do that.

Who Dat Gonna beat them Saints? Well, we answered that question, didn't we? I'll say this team's better when they reach the NFC championship and win.

    The agony of rememberance.

If memory serves my friend a certain man by the name of Green had alot to do with that "Drop".

Minnesota then advanced to the Washington 6-yard line, but Wilson's fourth down pass, intened for running back Darrin Nelson in the end zone, was batted away from him by cornerback Darrell Green with 52 seconds remaining and the Redskins ran out the clock.[1]
Darrin is still, to this day, one of my favorite players regardless of that play.
    ;D
It was a drop, plain and simple.
Yes, I am sure happy that we drafted Darrin Nelson.
We couldn't have gotten a better back when we drafted him.
Oh wait, there was a great back that was drafted after Nelson.
    Do you remember him?
He won the the Heisman in 1981.
Coach John Robison said about him, "The greatest player I ever saw".
Marcus Allen would have looked great in purple.
I agree on both counts. Nelso flat out dropped that pass that could have brought us our first SB victory and the fact that we drafted Nelson over Marcus Allen has pissed me off for decades. I finally let it go this year when we ended up with AP. He is going to heal many of the ills that have befallen this team if we can keep him healthy and remember even he needs a blocker once in a while
    Good point!
AD is going to make us forget about all of the bad fortune we have suffered.

You've got some work to do.
Let's see if I can help out

    QB -
    Wade Wilson
    RB - Darin Nelson
    WR - Anthony Carter
    WR - Hassan Jones
    WR - Leo Lewis
    TE - Steve Jordan
OL - Tim Irwin, Kirk Lowdermilk, Gary Zimmerman, Terry Tausch

    Defense

DL - Doug Martin, Keith Millard, Henry Thomas, Chris Doleman
LB - Jesse Solomon, Scott Studwell Walker Lee Ashley (I think)
DB - Isaac Holt, Carl Lee
    S - Joey Browner

Some people I just don't remember and I could be wrong about starters here and there.
For the most part they are correct.
One quick note, I think Rufus Bess was only on the replacement team.
He was one of the worst DBs that I've ever seen play.

This team is good, but I don't know if they are better.
    Anthony Carter was awesome.
He set an NFL record at the time with 227 yards receiving in the 49ers game.
I remember Burnsie having him return punts in the playoffs also.
I do believe he took one to the house against the Saints.
I wonder if Sidney Rice can be the next AC.
