10 Vikings with the Most to Prove in 2011
Quote:
Over the next week or so I’ll be doing 10 Vikings with the most to prove heading into 2011. Feel free to share any thoughts or opinions. I’ll be revealing one spot each day starting with #10. So let’s get into it
Quote:
#10 Jaymar Johnson
It’s encouraging to hear Cris talk that way but it’s now 2011 and we need to see something from him. Johnson signed a 1 year $405,000 contract this year, so if we don’t see anything positive this will probably be his last. He will head into training camp looking to compete for the 4th or 5th receiver spot and possibly even push Berrian for that other outside spot opposite Rice(if he returns).
Johnson is one of the fastest players on the Vikings and, with that being said, he could make his mark taking over punt return duties. He is going to have his opportunities and he’s going to have to make the best of them.

Phil Loadholt
Phil Loadholt had a very solid rookie campaign with the Vikings in 2009 but last year was dissapointing, to say the least. Loadholt committed 14 false starts placing him with the 4th highest in the league in 2010. He spent Most the year hampered by a shoulder injury but should enter 2011 at 100%. Loadholt has shown flashes of being dominate while other times he just disappears. With the line aging, I think it crucial that he comes in this year healthy and ready to reach his potential.

Hadn't realised about the shoulder affecting him for that long a time. I hope he picks up this year but think we have missed having a Mike Tice chasing up the OL. He may not have been the best at HC but he's the best OL coach we've had in recent years. Loadholt would benefit froma coach like that to stop him becoming the next Todd Steussie.
Re: 10 Vikings with the Most to Prove in 2011
I'd sure like it if Jaymar could put Berrian out of a job.
I had to stop reading the Loadholt one when I got to the misuse of "dominate." Then I started reading again and got to the second one and forgot everything else I read.
I've really tried to not be a spelling/grammar nazi, I have. But when you publish something for others to read in a non-discussion setting, at least revert to your first grade spelling lessons and SOUND IT OUT. Dom-in-ant. As in "he's playing at a dominant level." Dominate is a verb, dominant is an adjective.

Me too ... shit like that is unreadable for me.

Well if Phil loadholt can lay claim to anything, it is that he absolutely owns Clay Matthews. Go check the stats folks. I believe they have met in 4 games. With Matthews mustering (1) whole sack. And it just so happens the (1) he did get was when Favre was rolling right and slides to avoid getting hit.

Nothing on #8 this morning yet.

Although I would put Frazier at the top, I agree with you i_b_p. The coaches have the most to prove this year. Sure hope my feelings about Musgrave's abilities are wrong.
Re: 10 Vikings with the Most to Prove in 2011
I believe Wilf is the number one guy with something to prove. His freshman hire totally bombed and the huge chink of change he invested to give that coach a better shot to succeed than a Vikings coach had had in a long time will be for naught if he doesn't hit a home run with this staff.
Wilf has to hit that home rum while closing a 15 year battle for a new stadium that has the legislature fatigued, a rookie head coach, a rookie QB and a roster that has more holes than a brick of swiss cheese.
I am not sure he has it in him but as a fan I can only hope we can finally do something right to end the season the way we want it to.
