I love how he says in the article that the Vikings are his favorite team. Really?!

My favorite teams to watch are the Colts, Twins, and Cavs.

Re: 10 Reasons Why the Vikings Will Not Win the Division

I agree with all ten points.

Of course, similar things can be said about most teams in the NFL, so it is sort of generic for all but the three teams with Superbowl winning coaches.

    1. Brett Favre.

I agree that he is old.
He is an unknown quantity at this point.
This could turn into a great plus or a very bad situation.

    2. The wide receivers on the Vikings are sub par.

Brett Favre has enjoyed having many good, reliable receivers.
None of the Vikings receivers are of their caliber. On the whole, that is valid.
Berrian, Rice, and Harvin could be very good, but they are not yet as good as Driver and Jennings.
On the other hand, one must consider how well the receivers have done by having Favre as their quarterback.
    It is a synergistic relationship.

    3. The Vikings have a tendency to give up, especially when on the road.

It not as much giving up as it is poor coaching and lack of personnel.
A team needs to have the gameplan to handle all variables and players to execute the gameplan.
Run, Run, pass short for long drives doesn't work well when a team is behind by two scores.
Do the Vikings even have a hurry up offense under Childress?

    4. Penalties.

This team gets a ridiculous amount of penalties - that is also valid.
Can they even return a punt without an illegal block in the back.
Can Cook and McKinnie not jump before the snap for an entire game?
The Vikings have been one of the highest penalized teams in the NFL since Childress has taken over as head coach.

    5. Adrian Peterson thinks he is playing basketball.

Adrian Peterson puts the rock on the ground far too much.
Chester Taylor doesn't protect the rock at the goal line.
    It's a problem.

    6. The special teams are vulnerable to big play makers.

There is no doubt that the Vikings have had one of the worst special teams units in the NFL over the past few seasons.
Critical errors put the Vikings in too many bad situations.

    7. Brad Childress.

From his first game as a head coach for the Vikings against Washington, I have not been impressed by the conservative coaching and sometimes strange decisions by Childress and his coaches.
I wonder how much better the team would be with Dungy or Belichick.

    8. Their defense can't tackle.

It isn't the inability to tackle.
The Vikings have many great players that can tackle.
    Even the DB's can tackle.

The much larger problem is the Vikings not being able to cover either in man or in a soft zone.
I don't know if it more to do with personnel or the scheme.

The Vikings do blitz in the wrong situations; they don't overload properly, and they take bad angles to the quarterback.
Even immobile quarterbacks escape the Vikings pass rush.
The big thing here is that the Vikings scheme is set up to stop the run even when it should have a linebacker contain the edge to allow the pass rusher to pin his ears back and provide pressure.

    9. Minnesota franchises go out of their way to disappoint fans.

This is an effect - not a cause.

    10. They won't get so lucky this year.

The Vikings could have lost to the Lions and the Saints last year but got bailed out by two very questionable calls by the referees.
That is valid, but the Vikings have lost many more games because of poor calls.
Even under review, the refs have got some calls wrong.

The problem here is that the Vikings are consistantly in a situation where a single call can make or break the game.
In 1998, a blown call didn't matter much because the team would overcome with two or three more scores.
Well, as I recall a poor did a lot to cause the Bucs loss, but that was just one game in sixteen.
The Vikings under Childress play most of their games in jeopardy of a bad call costing a win or giving them a field goal.

It's a pretty poorly written article; with the exception of the Favre point and mentioning EJ's return, he is discussing the 08-09 Vikes not the 09-10 Vikes.

Here's the only part of that link that had any merit to it:

Ten Reasons why the comedian Taylor Lunemann will be shown to be horribly wrong:
    1. The Vikings don't need Brett Favre to carry the team, they just need him to pick apart the eight-man fronts they have faced continually since Peterson joined their roster, something which Brett can do in his sleep.
    2. Taylor obviously knows very little about Percy Harvin, Jaymar Johnson, or Darius Reynaud.
    3. Taylor is highly confused about Brett Favre's tendency with regard to giving up. Do you think that he has the NFL iron man record in his sights because he quits frequently? Or was if Jared Allen you thought was slacking off?
    4. Ryan Cook has been replaced at right tackle by Phil Loadholt, someone who actually played tackle in college and does not tend to jump offside.
    5. If Taylor thinks the coaches addressed a simple problem like fumbling in the off-season, where's the beef?
    6. Maybe Taylor does not know special teams ace Heath Farwell is back from the injury that cost him all of last season or that the Vikings have acquired Kenny Onatolu, the best special teams guy from the CFL. The reason Albert Young beat out Ian Johnson? Special teams considerations.
    7. Creativity is greatly overrated in coaching. The best idea is just to present defenses with more things to cover than they possibly can, which is possible by adding Harvin and Favre to the mix. Childress does not need to surprise anyone, just overwhelm them. It's called the Godfather Method: present them with something they can't refuse.
    8. Ha,ha,ha! If the Viking defense cannot tackle, how come they have led the NFL in rush defense for the past three years? Ask Peyton Manning how many times he was tackled for a sack in his very brief appearance this preseason. (The correct answer is three, losing as many yards as he gained passing in the game.)
    9. Taylor totally misunderstands why Zygi Wilf has hired Favre. The Vikings need a new stadium or Zyg will have to sell the team to make any money. Zygi only owns one franchise, and does not like to lose, period, and unlike other Minnesota owners will open his wallet to avoid it.
    10. The Vikings have already gotten lucky. They have the second-easiest rated schedule in the NFL this season, they got Percy Harvin, top ten talent, with the 22nd draft pick, and they talked a future HOF QB into taking the snaps for them.

Relax. Your predictions are so totally flawed, I cannot stop laughing.

I like how there is a poll right there and it is 68% favor of the vikings to win the division anyways.
