My fantasy football team (First Timer)

    Hey guys,

I'm a huge stat buff/lover of the NFL, and consider myself to know a great deal about it, but this was my first fantasy draft and I didn't know anything about how fantasy drafts worked. It was 14 rounds, I had the 8th pick in every round, so I got a lot of leftovers:

    Collins, Kerry QB OAK
    Barber, Tiki RB NYG
    Martin, Curtis RB NYJ
    Holt, Torry WR STL
    Moss, Randy WR OAK
    Watson, Ben TE NE
    Nugent, Mike K NYJ
    Vikings, DST DST MIN
    Palmer, Carson QB CIN
    Williams, Carnell RB TB
    Clayton, Mark WR BAL
    Colbert, Keary WR CAR
    Wiggins, Jermaine TE MIN
    Patriots, DST DST NE

Tell me what you guys think. I got a couple rookies, which is risky.

That looks like a solid team.. I think Carson will have a better year.. I think Chris Henry will help contribute.. Randy and Torry will have great years like lways.. Carnell is my best guess at rookie of the year.. So that looks good to me.. I could say more but yah that looks like a good first draft.. Even with the 8th pick

Randy and Torry should get a lot of points for you. And if randy does good, than Collins will to so that should work out pretty good for you.

Ben Watson probably won't do much again this year. I would trade him in for the other Ben from last year, Ben Troupe.

You had the 8th pick in every round? The draft order didn't reverse in odd rounds? That is usually the norm for fantasy drafts, to make it even. Not a fair draft at all if it didn't reverse.

As far as team goes you have a good team as far as starters, but questionable depth. I suggest never having a rookie as your backup or next in line guy. Rookies are fine as your say 4th RB or 4th WR, but too risky for backups IMO. I like cadillac though and think he should be the best fantasy back of all the rookies this year, so he should be alright for you as your #3 RB. You have 2 stud WR's but nothing on the bench to replace them in bye weeks or if they get injured. It would be better to have a proven decent WR behind them. I like both your QB's and think they are both gonna have breakout seasons, fantasy wise.

I would suggest that you don't draft for your favorite players and teams, unless you are only in a fantasy league for fun and that is free. If it's for money, you have to forget about your fav team and players. But getting moss at 8 has a good value, regardless of if he is your fav player or not.

Not bad though for a first timer. The league scoring also plays a huge role in who has more value.

You know he'll get a lot with Moss, specially if the level of D is low out there in Oak town.

The only problem with QB/WR combo's is when the QB has a bad week, your probably gonna lose, unless your other players have monster games. I try to stay away from combo's unless it is my backup QB with one of my starting WR's or vice versa.

The wide receivers were snatched quickly, I got fortunate Holt dropped to me.

I think Mark Clayton could have a huge impact.

I don't see ghim having very good fantasy #'s. Those will go to heap, mason, and jamal lewis, and the ravens D. Billick also really likes randy hymes and clarence moore as well. Both of they are bigger WR's that will be more of a threat in the redzone.

I like clayton as a WR, but in the situation he is in and team he is on, I don't really see great fantasy #'s for him. Not enough to be a #3 WR that is and probably not even a #4, fantasy wise I'm talking.

Yah the only problem is depth. I see C-Mart and Tiki having a dropoff but still being solid. Caddilac is a little to much of a gamble in my opinion for a #3 RB (Which is really important). Kerry is too much of a gamble IMO, but I'm not sure when you picked him, he may have been good value.

Moss and Holt is an awesome WR combo.

Overall a decent team, though I would watch the waivers for RBs.

I m like a Ja Rule poster, cause I'm off the wall.
