    Re: Defensive FFL Advice?

I did make one mistake, I thought we only started one QB
    I am set a WR.
I missed Harvin by one pick.
I missed Favre another Viking fan by a couple of picks.
I think instead of solidifying my back ups, I started drafting D players to soon and too many.
Which players are worth keeping on D?
I could drop one or two and go looking for other players for back up.

    Carson Palmer

    Marc Bulger (StL - QB)
    (Cin - QB)
    Jake Delhomme
    (Car - QB)

    (NYJ - RB)

    Willie Parker (Pit - RB)
    Visanthe Shiancoe
    (Min - TE)
    John Carney
    (NO - K)

    Minnesota
    (Min - DEF)

BTW, Jared Allen went first overall for D players.
It wasn't a Viking fan that took him.

I usually like to keep guys that get lots of tackles (80+ solo) if you get a point for that.
They tend to be consistent and there are a lot of LBs available that fit the bill.
INT's and sacks can vary quite a bit by year even for good players.
And if INTs are worth 3 pts and sacks are worth 2 pts relative to 1 pt for a tackle you're not going to make up those points.

Demarcus Ware is probably a keeper because he's going to have those sacks plus the tackles.
Ed Reed gets plenty of pics, but only about 40 tackles each year.
He gets some TDs too, but those are kind of random.
EJ is probably a good player to keep, but he may be a FF bust if Greenway eats tackles and opposing teams are pass happy when the Vikes are way up and completely stop the run.
Griffin gets a decent number of tackles, but who knows if he'll have a good year in terms of picks?

    So my advice:
-Keep Ware and EJ as starters
-Keep Griffin and Woodson, hopefully you can find better players to start
-Try and trade Reed, Haynesworth, or Peppers for an upgrade at an offensive position, if not, I would probably drop them depending on who is available
-Take a look at the stats and see who that is available has had a lot of tackles, preferably for two or more years running
-Keep an eye on who racks up tons of tackles the first few weeks and consider picking them up
-Don't keep more than two backup defenders, they're just not that good... better to keep extra RBs that might actually become good starters at some point

Take it for what you will.
When the age of the Vikings came to a close, they must have sensed it. Probably, they gathered together one evening, slapped each other on the back and said, "Hey, good job." - Jack Handey [Deep Thoughts]

That gives me a mental approach to this and a step up rather than having to figure it out by week 5 or 6

    Thanks!

Do whatever it takes to get Demaco Ryans from the texans. Drop Fatsworths.

Otherwise, team doesn't look to bad besides the risks at qb.

    Ryans is gone.
I think EJ will make up for it.

As far as D, I think I am going to have to really find some hidden gems.

Here's my advice - don't play in FF leagues that use individual defensive players.
