They can't make Farve retire.
If he is not playing and has not filed his papers, the team can shelve him on "Retired-reserve" in order to keep his rights.
Perfect example was TB last year with Jake the Snake.
It won't count against the cap.

If he infact has contacted the team about a comeback, he is a bigger douche than I ever imagined him to be... and that is a LOT. FFS Favre, go away.

My wife knows me all to well.
I honestly won't be able to watch them.

I could see this happening. Favre's ego is so big that he thinks he is gods gift to football, he thinks that by coming back he will actually help the packers and the NFL. Not sure if it will be week one or after Rodgers gets hurt(they have no back up option other than rookies) or maybe next season, but I would bet(like a dollar or a dome dog or something) that Favre suits up again at some point.

He's going to have the Madden curse going against him as well.

Let's hope he does come back.
