The Lions traded Cory Redding and a fifth round pick to Seattle for ex-Spartan Julian Peterson. Dare we say a great move?

    Don't buy into the hype.
We Vikings fans know this Mayhew is a figure head.
The HC does all this crap....... ;D
you and i both know every team structure is different... Chilly is the big dogg here... as proven by some fruitful insight by actual guys in the know!..

as far as detroit, it's actually Mayhew.. but I figure if Schwarts can win 5-6 games this season and show significant improvement, i don't think it would be out of the realm of possibility that he could eventually finagle some juice away from Mayhew.. esp. if they bump heads about the direction of the team...
Who are the "Fruitful" guys that are actually in the know?
Scouts Campman or Champman or Chipman you keep referring to but don't ever respond when I ask for a link........?

    ;D
I'd give you one but all the articles are on Scout.com and require insider info.. but if you want a link i can give you one.. never seen a request for one.. but here is one from last week March 6..

lancep1: How much pull does Chilly have in making personnel decisions? Does he trump Rick Spielman? And if he does, is that a mistake on the ownership group?

adamcaplan: LANCE: Childress has final say on everything.
I pay for the same stuff you are reading so I know what they are saying.......GOTCHA.....

Those are nothing more than that yutz answering questions of fans.
    Has no credance....
maybe so but i still think he would know more about the structure of the team and who picks who more than you or I would know...

besides when you look at that and the fact that Chilly had a say in hiring Spielman it makes all the sense in the world! [/quote]
It would, I will admit that, however, if one were to really look deep into it, one would see that he had a hand in Foley as well. How did that work out?

Long story short, I love the scout stuff and do believe they have some nice insight, however, I can show you alot more articles on there from actual Vikings FO personnel that would discount what he regurges to his readers......

Quick question, how long have you been a subscriber?
Do a search on thier archives.
    Some good stuff in there.
Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v343/josdin00/Vikings/Marrdro_sig.jpg

been a member for about 4 years now.. don't really look at the archives unless i'm trying to find something.. i usually see all the stuff on the vikes either on the front page or on the box to the right.. one thing i didn't realize until this year is that you can see info on ALL the teams not just the vikes, even though i get their mag that comes months late and too late for it to be relevant..

But i've never seen an article anywhere that refutes the Chilly and final say argument.. and i'd welcome an link or article...
    ;D

triangle of authority!!... and if i remember correctly, Foley was hired on our around the same time and even if chilly was hired first.. it further proves my point that chilly has final say bc who got fired?

The GM not the HC.. meaning the HC has more juice than the GM... esp. when he can go and hire another one...

    Chiller was hired first.....

As to some links I will dig a few up, but not tonight.

Long story short, we have a thing (you are correct) called the Triad.
In it we don't have a true GM and HC structure were the GM has final say.
In the Triad the HC has a bit more say than one would normally see in a traditional GM and HC relationship and I freely admit that.

My point has always been that the Chiller doesn't do it all himself and that the VP of Player Personnel (who owns the scouts, medical staff, legal dept etc) do alot of work during the regular season (while the coach is coaching the team) in preps for the offseason stuff like drafts and FA.

Re: You have to like what Martin Mayhew's doing for Lions

This LB they got from Seattle is old, and they gave up a younger player and a pick to get him.
The only way I like this move is if they go Curry with the 1st pick and really shore up their LB position... but even then they have neglected the Dline and Oline, which are more important positions to make elite first.

I don't understand the move, it seems to me to be the opposite of what you want to do with a team that is perpetually rebuilding.

its not like they can be any worse.......
I just have a feeling they are not gonna be as craptastic. That is until those lines get fixed and trading away
good young D-line man is such the start but maybe Redding wanted out?
    can yu blame him.
