Re: Are This Year's Detroit Lions The 2000 Vikings?

Again...they have Tatum Bell @ RB. If he could not succeed at the RB factory known as the Denver Broncos, how the heck can he do well in Detroit. The Lions are about as one dimensional as you can get. The 2000 vikes of course, were not. Its like apples & oranges. The Lions may get 7 wins this year if they are lucky. 7-9 is your best bet. Martz is trying to mirror the Rams, but with no RB.....that ain't gonna happen.

Roy Williams, Furrey, Calvin Johnson and Mike Martz should make for an exciting passing game in Detroit.
CJ is unproven, but he doesn't have to be a standout to make the passing game effective in Detroit.
On the other hand, if he does turn into the player most people believe he will be, these guys could be nasty.

Fortunately, it takes more than a great passing game to equal wins.
Exactly. And that's why I DON'T think the 2007 Detroit Lions will be the 2000 Minnesota Vikings.

The Lions have all the talent in the world at the skill positions, (WR Roy Williams and WR Calvin Johnson.) but unlike the 2000 Vikings, they don't have any balance. (No run game.)

Back then we had a very good offensive line, the Lions current offensive line is suspect. That's why Kitna threw so many interceptions last season, because he always had guys in his face. Will they have a very good passing offense? Off course. But ultimately I don't see that earning them 10 or more victories.

They are not looking like it today so far. Kitna in the first half is 5/11 and 33.
