I tend to agree with that.

However, I think that you have to at least test the market, see what kind of value you can get for a guy like him. They could pull a Herschel Walker deal with some poor team and really elevate themselves above the rest of the NFL. They're already a good team, they made the playoffs pretty much without Tomlinson, so if they were to beef up the rest of their roster and fill any holes they might have they could be scary.

Of course you don't want to play around with that kind of stuff if you're the front office. Players obviously don't like having their jobs tampered with.


It's also lose-lose for the FO in the media and fan base. Either they trade him and it works out well and Charger fans(many of which are fans just because of LT) still say "how could you trade the best back ever?" or it's a bad trade in the long run and everyone can say "We shouldn't have traded LT."

I cannot see them trading LT. I doubt there is any talk of it at all except for the media types that are bored and want to stir the pot ... which is their job of course.
He still put up very solid numbers this season and there is no reason to think he is going to fall off next year ... he will likely put up better numbers.
He is in great shape and one of those work-a-holics that will want to prove something next year. No way the Chargers part with the best player in their franchises history.

He is the face of that franchise and if you intend on keeping him and not just test the market u better keep him happy

He is a great guy and a great player.. Still has a few good seasons in him.. He is the type of guy u let finish of his career there

Heck yes I would. Chargers can draft a new rb. If we can trade RM, they can trade LT... just I would hope they would get more than a 4th round pick
