    Worst Offseasons In 2010

Offseason not rewarding for these five

... and guess who's number second!

    I can't say I disagree.

It always amazes me how down people can be on the Vikings.

Were there really any valid points in the article?

    1. What about Favre....he had surgery and is coming back.

    2. The new stadium....what's that got to do with football on the field? (I am an out of state fan so I admit I have no stake here)

    3. Griffin and Henderson's injuries are old news, not really offseason material unless we know they are coming back under par.

    4. The WWall is still playing football in 2010...same old same old.

    5. The only football related criticism was the pick of Cook over Robinson.

Robinson is smaller, a poor run stopper and poor in zone defenses. Not a good match.

Cook is bigger, just as fast (10yard much faster), more explosive, and well suited/capable of playing in our zone defense.

To top it off, if Robinson didn't work out he would amount to nothing, if Cook doesn't work out, we probably have a decent safety on our hands.

Simply put, I just don't see the Vikings as having a "Negative" off-season when it comes down to it.

    Re:Worst Offseasons In 2010

The longer a regime is in place, that does well in the draft, and uses the FA market wisely, the less likely that regime will have to make "Earth Shattering" moves in the offseason to get "Better".

I like how this team was built, even though I didn't like to see some many rooks play early on. I also like how deep we are at almost every position. I also like how hard it is getting to crack this roster.

I also like that we haven't had to do anything big this offseason other than to add youth/depth to a already chocker blocked roster.

In the end, a nice read, but who really gives a shit. My guess, fans who live for "Earth Shattering" moves and the associated mentions on ESPN when it happens.

If I was one of those fans, I would get ready for alot more "Boring/Worst" rankings in the offseason catagory.
Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v343/josdin00/Vikings/Marrdro_sig.jpg

Cornerback Cedric Griffin may not be fully recovered from reconstructive knee surgery by the start of the regular season. Linebacker E.J. Henderson is coming off another surgery. Defensive tackles Pat Williams and Kevin Williams could serve four-game suspensions as a result of the StarCaps case.

We did sign Lito Shepperd and resigned Benny Sapp, Jimmy Kennedy and we are getting Ray Edwards back.

Who did we lose? Chester and Hicks.

    We are returning 22 starters!

I would like to see the Vikes get some backup help at O-Line, Linebacker and Safety.
What we've got here is failure to communicate.

    Call me Crazy:

    OLine - Degeare (OT,OG)
Linebacker- Griffen (Faster than any LB on team) played OLB in college for two years.
Safety - Cook (Especially if Griffin comes back well)

I to want to see action in those areas, and FB!

Degreare is a rookie and I would like some veteran experience since we were 1 game from the Superbowl.

Griffen is going to be a DE and I have heard no person on the Vikes say they were going to use him at Linebacker.

Cook is a CB not a Safety.

They brought in a guy to challange Tahi but I can't remeber his name off the top of my head.

    Re:Worst Offseasons In 2010

Obviously our offseason is not mind-boggling or anything, but what did people expect? A 12-4 team that barely missed going to the Super Bowl to do a complete overhaul?

I am fairly happy with the offseason. I am still not sold that we waned Robinson in the draft ... and I know there was a lot of buzz about us wanting Cook, so I think we got our guy (since Wilson was off the board). We addressed the Griffin issue that he points out with Cook and Lito ... don't know what else we could have done.

We addressed the loss of Chester with a younger Gerhart. Not a lot else we could have done. We went after LT but chose not to break the bank for him.

LB is a spot we definitely could have made more moves at or targeted a little more, but I think we are in decent shape there.

Alot of what he put in here is "would've could've" ... like we hinge on Favre (but we all know he is coming back at this point) and the Williams wall COULD get suspended (but it looks HIGHLY unlikely at this point).

Outside of inking Tomlinson and then drafting someone other than Gerhart (which I don't necessarily think makes us better) what else were we supposed to do?

Sounds to me like another analyst/fan who is angry that we didn't take Clausen/McCoy, but not taking it out on the other 31 teams that kept passing on those guys as well.

We don't need to make any big moves. We are close and just need the season to start so we can break Brees's back. Then we have a free ride all the way to the Superbowl because there is no other competition in the nfc.
    We're bringing purple back.

Eh ... I think we are in good shape ... BUT

The Cowboys are solid, the Packers are solid and I would not be shocked to see the Giants get back in the mix or some other team we are not thinking of.

I think we will be the Vegas favorites with Favre in there, but there are definitely some other solid teams.

    Re:Worst Offseasons In 2010

I think we were the best team in football last year, even with the injuries at linebacker and corner(If EJ comes back close to a 100% that is a huge upgrade from last year). I think this year we have just as much talent with alot more experience(especially playoff experience).
I think this is going to be a scary team that will contend for a superbowl again this year.
