Re: Will Eli ever be able to live up the pressure?

Like Shock, I have been anti-Eli ever since his draft day fiasco with San Diego.
I have felt it was only fitting that San Diego went on to have a couple of excellent seasons without him, while the Giants struggled.

Today, I laughed my fool head off after every pick-6....that means I was laughing myself silly pretty much the whole game.

But, the topper for me was that 30 yard sack.
He had a kazillion opportunities to get outside the box and throw it away...or just drop and take it...but he kept going back, and back, and back.
When he went down, I was laughing so hard my wife came in to see what the commotion was (and I gladly replayed the entire event for her...DVR's are fantastic things).

Here's to many more mediocre years from Eli "I'm nowhere near as good as my brother" Manning.

That was icing on the cake, any attempt at explaining his way out of this performance was lost on that play.

It was 4th down... generally speaking, throwing it away on 4th down isn't a good idea... he had to try to make something happen, anything...

Eli is a streaky player... but between his family heritage and the NY area fans and media, he's going to struggle.
He's really not ready to have all that focus on him or ready to really carry his team.
    Will he ever be?
    I don't know.
He's in something like his 4th season, at some point he needs to show more.

While I don't actively hope and pray for his career failure (nor spontaneous existence failure), I can't say that I have any deep sympathies for him.
It's more of a condescending pity than anything else.

Re: Will Eli ever be able to live up the pressure?

Forget the question will he live up to the pressure.
The real question now is which Manning is better?
Personally I still give it to Peyton but Eli put everything together and lead a fourth quarter comeback in the Super Bowl.
Did it early in his career and looked way better than Peyton over the last couple weeks of the season and throughout the post-season.
Peyton has never looked as good in the playoffs as Eli did this year.
