How is it that the NFLN is 'jammed down our throats' but the 80% of the channels we don't want to watch are not?
Comcast wants to own a large stake of the NFLN.
They're not content with monoplies in several markets, and huge market shares in others.
In order to keep stockholders happy, they need to keep their profits growing.
Market share is just about maxed out, so now they're branching out in to ownership of cable channels.
This is their future growth area; they already own E!, The Golf Channel, Versus, G4 and Style.

The lack of competition for cable providers is already bad enough; having them also own multiple television networks cannot possibly be a good thing for the consumer.
