LMAOI have gone to my handful of away games ... but going to the Philadelphia Eagles contest in 2001 was definitely the strangest.
I was there with my lady friend and we were wearing our purple and of course getting a ton of middle fingers and shit from the nutso Eagles fans, but we did not care too much.
I think things went pretty easy on us. It was FREEZING cold and we were in the upper deck. We were surrounded by a group of season ticket holders who you could tell all knew each other and they definitely were razzing us.
It was 31-10 by halftime in favor of the Eagles and the razzing had mostly died down and everyone was fairly friendly. ... but here is where it got strange.
All of a sudden the ENTIRE section we were in started chanting "Fireball, Fireball, Fireball." We were like halfway up in the section and all the way down to the stairs and up to the top of the stadium was chanting "Fireball" and we were trying to figure out what the hell was going on.
We turned around to notice one of the guys that had been shooting the shit with us ... one row behind us and about five seat to my left ... was clearly the one they called Fireball.
He had taken his shirt off (and it is probably around 30-34 degrees) and was COVERED ... I mean like a fricking bear ... in red hair front and back and with a half-mullet and beard to boot. And the guy poored some sort of oil or what not on himself and proceeded to dance, shake his belly, and rub oil all over for about 3 minutes as the Fireball chant got louder and everyone cheered.
To this day ... I can't believe I did not have a camera with me.

YEAR:
2003
VENUE:
ATLANTA FALCONS GAME (We were 4-0 at this point)
I was 16 and my dad won 2 tickets in a drawing at work. They were 5 rows up from the field. I was really shy and not sociable at this time of my life, and of course, there were drunk people everywhere. One of them, a 35 year old soccer mom, kept turning around screaming at me and turning my hat around backwards. This happened about 5 times througout the game. I remember being slightly scared and creeped out. She kept thinking the Falcons were going to come back when being 20 down in the 4th.Sean Saunders

Very fun game to be at with Gus Frerotte flinging the ball and Randy Moss making one SPECTACULAR catch for a touchdown.

Way to give what you get.In '99 my wife decided we should get ourselves over to the US for a game - especially as she had never seen a live game and knew it had been a long time since I'd seen one. So we got tickets for opening day down in Atlanta after the NFCC loss earlier that year and flew over to stay with friends. They were convinced that we'd not get back in one piece from the game as some of the local fans were said to be a tad obnoxious.
We drove and parked at the Dome and started getting razzed on by local fans as soon as we got out of the car - I had my Moss jersey on so not hard to spot. Some joker said " hey purple jerseys make really pretty lighters for BBQs " and waved his six fingered hands at us... cue the deliverance music
We got into the ground and found were we were was 80% Vikes fans but still some rooms for dickhead Falcons fans. There was one in front who was was small and round ( bit like a weeble ) wearing a bandana and who spent the whole game trying to bait the Vikes fans around - including me. So I took great delight giving it back, especially when the Falcons missed a FG and made sure he knew they'd missed. I'm surprised after that game that my wife ever let me go to a game again
;D
To cap it all when we got back to the car the BBQ guy was looking a bit down in the mouth, though did manage a smile when I reminded him that black jerseys would make good firelighters for BBQs.
I've never started anything with an opposing fan, but I don't take it without giving something back in a fan friendly way.

I think it was probably a mutant cockroach, given the nuclear power plant not that far away

I've lived in AZ for 19 years and have seen 3 scorpions and I'm out in the desert alot.
Only 1 in the city and it was dead.
