On a sorta related story, When I lived in LA (88-96) My buddies and I went to a lot of Raider games when they were there, and we happened to be at the Raider Steeler game where that Pittsburgh fan got beaten up badly, (1990 I think) The Raiders won by the way, Raider fans would throw beer cans, garbage, any/everything at anyone wearing opposing teams stuff, I'm talking families, kids, women, It was embarrassing, Now remember that a huge number of those fans were/are gangbangers, thugs, or just wanna be tough guys, If theres a stadium that shouldn't sell beer it was that one, (Rose bowl, a prehistoric building) No this doesn't have to do with the vikings but thought it might interest someone to know how those games were, I went to about 15-18 games, Also saw Bo Jacksons last game where he hurt his hip.
I went to a Cards - Raiders game in Sun Devil Stadium AZ, when the Cards were horrible (any time before last year), and the Raiders blew the Cards away, but the Raiders fans still pelted the lowly Cards fans with crap and swore at them.

BTW, in the bathroom Raider fans (4 or 5) gathered around the drainage hole in the floor to piss, mostly on each others feet, since they were all wasted (and not just on beer).

Here I go off topic again, When I went to concerts in LA, The Forum, Motley Crue, Guns and Roses, Aerosmith, Def Leppard, ect. The restrooms always had people pissing in the sinks, floor, garbage, Not kidding, the floor would have a couple of inches of urine on it. I've been to Compton Terr. in Phoenix, Rosemont Horizon in Chi. The Mark in Moline, 5 Season center in Cedar Rapids, and never once at any of these were people pissing anywhere but the urinals, or toilet. Not saying all people in LA are disgusting, just what I saw, Maybe people have to urinate worse in LA. OK back to the topic at hand.
Even if the Vikings lose, I can still find happiness in Bears, and Packer losses.

Just so ya'll coming to AZ for the game.
The new UOP stadium has more than enough urnials, even during a sold out game, I only waited 5 or so minutes at half time.
    Very nice well designed stadium.

...All of a sudden the ENTIRE section we were in started chanting "Fireball, Fireball, Fireball." We were like halfway up in the section and all the way down to the stairs and up to the top of the stadium was chanting "Fireball" and we were trying to figure out what the hell was going on.

We turned around to notice one of the guys that had been shooting the pooh with us ... one row behind us and about five seat to my left ... was clearly the one they called Fireball.

He had taken his shirt off (and it is probably around 30-34 degrees) and was COVERED ... I mean like a fricking bear ... in red hair front and back and with a half-mullet and beard to boot. And the guy poored some sort of oil or what not on himself and proceeded to dance, shake his belly, and rub oil all over for about 3 minutes as the Fireball chant got louder and everyone cheered.

To this day ... I can't believe I did not have a camera with me.
    lmao, that is fucked up.
I wasn't even there and I want to carve my eyeballs out.

Re: What's your strangest encounter with other non-Viking fans?

In '99 my wife decided we should get ourselves over to the US for a game - especially as she had never seen a live game and knew it had been a long time since I'd seen one. So we got tickets for opening day down in Atlanta after the NFCC loss earlier that year and flew over to stay with friends. They were convinced that we'd not get back in one piece from the game as some of the local fans were said to be a tad obnoxious.

We drove and parked at the Dome and started getting razzed on by local fans as soon as we got out of the car - I had my Moss jersey on so not hard to spot. Some joker said " hey purple jerseys make really pretty lighters for BBQs " and waved his six fingered hands at us... cue the deliverance music

We got into the ground and found were we were was 80% Vikes fans but still some rooms for dickhead Falcons fans. There was one in front who was was small and round ( bit like a weeble ) wearing a bandana and who spent the whole game trying to bait the Vikes fans around - including me. So I took great delight giving it back, especially when the Falcons missed a FG and made sure he knew they'd missed. I'm surprised after that game that my wife ever let me go to a game again
    ;D

To cap it all when we got back to the car the BBQ guy was looking a bit down in the mouth, though did manage a smile when I reminded him that black jerseys would make good firelighters for BBQs.
Time spent annoying a Packer fan is never time wasted...

Yeah ... that was an awful year to be going to Vikes games also.

I went to that one and went to Mike Tice's first game as coach (the final game of the season) in Baltimore as well.

The Baltimore game was supposed to be Week 2 on Monday Night, but the terrorist attacks pushed it to the last week of the year and it was cold as fuck in Baltimore that night when Spergon Wynn took the snaps for us and Tice got off to an 0-1 start.
