What SKOL means!

Finally, I figure this out....never knew....had a good idea that it was along these lines....did any of you'z guys know???

From the encyclopedia

Skol (written skÃƒÂ¥l in norwegian, and sometimes "Skoal" in English) is the Norwegian word for a salute or a toast, as to an admired person or group.

The best explanation I've heard (and posted once, I think) was this:
In Valhalla when the Vikings feast, they drink out of the skulls of their defeated opponents, and when they drink they'd yell "Skul!", meaning use your opponent's decapitated skull to drink, and everyone would drink. So for all intents and purposes it means "raise your glass" or "cheers!" So skul turned to skol, so now it means "cheers" vikings. So basically when we say "Skol Vikings" it means a salute or a toast to the Vikes.

For the mods, we should make this a sticky or something. I know most newbs (like me when I joined) don't usually know what it means, since its obviously not a very common word nowadays, but everyone on here is doin "skol this, skol that".

Just an idea, since I see a lot of threads about this subject.
