Blah blah blah ... the point is ... three teams have been there ... and three teams have moved. Hollywood was still there in 1960. They still didn't care.

Just because they support the other sports does not mean they will support football. It is also fairly well known that when the Angels and Dodgers are in down years, they have terrible attendance issues. The Lakers are THE team in town, so of course they do well. The Kings and Ducks? Both have had their share of financial troubles.

And the Trojans is all the more reason they don't need an NFL team.
You aren't really counting the Chargers are you?

Hollywood was indeed here in the 60s. However, the 60s were an entirely different beast in terms of sports. To measure Los Angeles' qualifications for having an NFL team but using data that is 15 years old seems goofy to me anyway. 1994 was long before the explosion of the internet and ESPN. Now, following a team is MUCH easier and supporting one is easier too.

The Dodgers and Angels fairly well known attendance issues are not demonstrated in the numbers. For instance, in 2005 the Dodgers missed the playoffs and finished 4th in the NL West and yet drew 3,603,680 for the season. That is 1,000,000 more than the average in the NL that year. For comparison's sake, in 2007 the Dodgers finished 4th again in the NL West and drew 3,856,753. Again, over a 1,000,000 more than the NL average. In 2008, when they won the NL West they drew 3,730,553. Seriously, the Dodgers have drawn 3,000,000+ every year since 1996 save 2000 when they drew 2,880,242 which is still 400,000+ more than the NL average that year. The Angels' numbers are similar but you get the point.

The Kings and Ducks are HOCKEY teams that fans in LA get out and support. That's impressive in and of itself. This isn't the Wild, the Red Wings, the Blackhawks! These are the Ducks and Kings in California! NO ONE plays hockey here growing up!

Lastly, as much as people like to think this is a Laker town. It isn't. This is a Dodger town. Especially, since the Dodgers have had some success recently.

Oh, and no one is saying that Los Angeles NEEDS a team. Heck, we've been without one for 15 years. We don't NEED one. What I take issue with is those that say LA won't support a team. The numbers just don't bear that out.
