Weather and who wins in the NFL
I heard the following on ESPN radio this morning:
- "The NFL season really is like two seasons. Playing in September is much different than playing in December or January. In Sept., the passing teams built on speed and throwing vertically win. In the playoffs, it is the teams who control the LOS and are tougher win. Wind, rain, snow, all these things play a huge role in who wins the Super Bowl and who gets there".
I thought that was a good point. Take the Giants or Bears. They might get blown away in Sept. by the Saints or Arizona, but come the rain and slogging weather, they are just tougher and they pound the ball.

Re: Weather and who wins in the NFL
If our passing game can get it together we could have some high scoring games come the end of the year in my opinion.
With a good passing game the Vikings are a huge scoring threat anytime and can also control the ball in the playoffs if we need to.
After seeing that schedule I think a lot of our success will depend on how we move the ball downfield against a team in perfect KAO stadiums.

Re: Weather and who wins in the NFL
Of the 32 teams in the NFL, how many cold weather teams play outdoors? GB, Chicago & the Giants come to mind.
The teams wins are more of a product of the team, not the weather. GB always plays Chicago twice & always once in a late game. Both play outdoors, so obviously an outdoor team is going to win.
GB's wins were a product of having Favre. Go check the Packers playoff seasons for 25 years prior to Favre.

Re: Weather and who wins in the NFL
But I do think that teams like the Giants and Bears and Patriots and Steelers and Seahawks have made the Show, because they were able to pound the rock when it is cold and rainy. Of course it is not the only thing you need (if it were, Buffalo and Cleveland would be in the playoffs every year), but it doesn't hurt to be able to slog it out on a cold day in January.
Being tough is related to that and also helps.
